The launch of Monster Hunter Wilds has smashed Steam player records, setting new highs not just for the Monster Hunter series but also for Capcom on this platform, exceeding all previous records.
As a gamer, I’m right in the middle of an exciting gaming session with Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, and the number of concurrent players on SteamDB is skyrocketing! It won’t be long before this popular game surpasses 1.5 million active players, especially as everyone wraps up their day-to-day activities and joins in on the fun.
It’s likely unnecessary to mention, but it’s clear that this surpasses by a significant margin the highest concurrent player count on Steam for Monster Hunter, which was reached by Monster Hunter World in 2018 with 334,684 players. Interestingly, as of now, World still has 34,745 players on Steam.
Absolutely, we’re not considering the players who participated in the initial open beta of Monster Hunter Wilds, held in November, which had more concurrent users than World did at its peak. However, it’s important to note that the beta was essentially a demo, and this is the full game.
Apart from setting new benchmarks for its series on Steam with exceptional sales, Monster Hunter Wilds has also surpassed past achievements of Capcom as a company. This game has skyrocketed to the number one spot in Capcom’s Steam rankings, outperforming not only the Capcom Arcade Stadium compilations but also heavyweights like Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the Resident Evil 4 remake.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Capcom’s latest game has just moved into the seventh spot on Steam’s all-time play count. While it still has some ground to cover before catching up with heavyweights like Palworld, Black Myth: Wukong, and PUBG: Battlegrounds, I must admit, I wouldn’t be shocked if it managed to reach those lofty heights over the coming weekend. The buzz surrounding this game is palpable!
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but admit that the allure of Wilds in Palworld is undeniable right now. Yet, behind the scenes, the brilliant minds at Pocketpair seem to have foreseen the game’s success. In fact, they went ahead and granted their team a day off today – a move that suggests an overwhelming number of employees might just be too enthralled to show up (probably because they can’t wait to dive into Wilds).
It’s important to point out that the Steam count excludes console gamers, so it’s quite possible that Monster Hunter Rise has sold over 2 million copies during its first day of release on other platforms.
Currently, you have the opportunity to explore “Monster Hunter Rise” on your PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S. To understand why it lives up to all the excitement, be sure to check out Tyler’s review for an informed perspective.
