Miranda Lambert Announces New Album Postcards From Texas; Unveils Third Single Alimony, Highlighting Her Country Roots

As a devoted fan of Miranda Lambert, every new release from her feels like a gift straight from the heart of Texas. With her latest single, “Alimony,” she continues to showcase her unwavering connection to her roots and her knack for penning relatable, authentic country songs.

Miranda Lambert announced a new single called “Alimony” on July 24, following her recent releases of “Wranglers” and “Dammit Randy.” However, this release came with an additional piece of news.

The singer has announced the title, tracklist, and release date for her new album, which is titled “Postcards From Texas” and contains 14 self-produced tracks in collaboration with her longtime partner and fellow Texan, Jon Randall. This LP, signed under Republic Records, will be available starting September 13.

Miranda Lambert releases Alimony, a third single from her upcoming album — Is the song title a hint?

Lambert collaborated with Shane McAnally and Natalie Hemby, two highly sought-after country music composers, to write this song. They likewise crafted “Looking Back on Luckenbach,” which is included in Lambert’s Postcards From Texas collection.

As an obsessed fan, I’d put it this way: Alimony is a timeless ballad straight from the heart of Texas. In this captivating tune, Miranda Lambert playfully threatens her significant other (please, let it not be her actual one): “If you dare to stray / Only one thing can ease my pain / If you choose to leave me in good ol’ San Antone / Don’t forget about the alimony.”

In an interview yesterday, Lambert shared in a press statement her insights on writing the song. Drawing from her experiences growing up with parents who were private investigators in Dallas, Texas and worked extensively on divorce cases in affluent areas, she found the inspiration for this composition effortless. After all, she had been exposed to such stories since childhood.

Lambert made the record in Texas

In May, the singer of Dammit Randy revealed to People that her upcoming album would have a country theme. She shared, “I produced this album in Texas. It’s been a long time since I last recorded an album there – I was just 18 at the time.”

The singer expressed that going back to her childhood town held a special significance for the upcoming stage of her life. This feeling was heightened due to her recent employment with a new company.

Postcards From Texas follows Lambert’s Palomino, which came out in 2022.
