The final episode of Stranger Things brought many viewers to tears, including star Millie Bobby Brown.
The actress known for her role as Eleven recently posted a video on Instagram of herself reacting to one of the last scenes of the show.
In the video, actress Brown is in a recording booth doing ADR – a common process in television where actors re-record lines to enhance the audio quality. While watching a scene, she becomes emotional and has trouble delivering her lines.
In a video posted to Instagram, Brown expressed her gratitude to those around her, saying, “Thank you for all the years. I appreciate it,” while visibly emotional. She then added, with feeling, “Wow, this show!” The post’s caption read, “Watching that scene for the first time.”

Okay, so the Stranger Things finale really got me! Eleven had two super emotional goodbyes, and the first one was heartbreaking. She actually decided to stay in the crumbling Upside Down, basically to protect herself from being hunted and experimented on again. But before she did, she used her powers to connect with Mike for one last, silent goodbye – it was so powerful and sad! I was definitely tearing up.
Later in the episode, Eleven seemingly dies, and her friends struggle with the loss. While playing one final game of Dungeons & Dragons, Mike starts to hope she might still be alive. He thinks Eleven could have pretended to die, possibly with help from her sister Kali, who has the power to create illusions. This suggests Eleven may have secretly escaped.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the creators of the show, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, discussed how they approached the finale. Matt Duffer explained that they intentionally ended it from the perspective of the kids, particularly Mike, leaving some things open to interpretation.
He explained that the characters’ ignorance created mystery for the audience. Regardless of Eleven’s fate, he emphasized that her choice was impactful. He described it as either a tragic death or a courageous decision to start a new life, leaving her friends behind.
Ross Duffer revealed the ambiguous ending was intentional. He explained they wanted viewers to interpret events for themselves, just as the characters in the show did, and ultimately decide what they believe happened.
Okay, so as a huge fan of the show, I’ve been obsessing over the ending, and it turns out not everyone on set sees it the same way! Sadie Sink, who absolutely killed it as Max, actually said on Jimmy Fallon that she thinks Max is dead. She even joked about whether that was a controversial opinion! It’s wild to hear her perspective, honestly, and it definitely adds another layer to the whole debate.
The last season of Stranger Things is available to watch on Netflix, and it’s clearly a very emotional experience for viewers and the actors involved.
