Millie Bobby Brown is standing up against harsh criticisms from gossip publications, specifically those focusing on her appearance and age. The star of “The Electric State” has spoken out against ageist comments suggesting she appears much older than her real age.
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but express my feelings about the latest episode of Call Her Daddy podcast. In it, the enchanting Stranger Things actress delved into the recent discussions surrounding her seemingly mature appearance and evolving accent. She subtly pointed out that when we first met her at 10, she was still in the midst of growing up. Fast forward a decade, and here I am, pondering over why her transformation is subject to critique.
As a lifestyle expert, I often hear comments such as, “Wow, you look like you’re 40!” and I reply, “Well, remember when we first met, I was just ten years old. Fast forward to now, at the age of 21, it’s been a decade! Time causes changes, including in my appearance. So, I guess the question is, what do you expect me to do about the passage of time?
Brown admitted that while earlier criticisms had once troubled her, she now possesses a newfound sense of self-confidence. She explained, “I often find myself wishing I could say, ‘You know what, it does affect me.’ At one time, it did … And I recall attempting to alter myself in an effort to appease the public.
Currently, I find myself in a situation where indeed, my dialect shifts. Over time, my physical features develop, and I often apply quite a bit of makeup. It’s simply part of who I choose to be as an individual, explained Brown further.
The actress who played Enola Holmes in a recent Instagram post openly criticized the media for what she labeled as “bullying” and persistent criticism of her looks, body shape, and personal choices. In her statement, she expressed her frustration over the expectation that she should continue to resemble the 10-year-old version of herself, which she considers unrealistic.
Millie Bobby Brown didn’t hold back in the podcast interview, openly discussing her discomfort with how the media handles her. She strongly believes that no one should endure constant criticism like this. She argues that the media needs to re-learn basic courtesy and remember that celebrities, especially young women, are just as human as everyone else.
