‘Miller’s Girl’ and Every Other Movie Leaving Netflix and Hulu This Week

Several movies and a comedy special are leaving Hulu and Netflix this week, between October 20th and October 26th. Here’s a quick guide to each title—what it’s about, who stars in it, and who made it—before it’s gone. You’ll find brief summaries of the plots, main actors, directors, and the exact date each one will be removed.

‘Beba’ (2022)

Rebeca Huntt’s first film is a personal documentary where she explores what it means to be Afro-Latina, her family’s past, and how those roots have influenced her life growing up in New York City. The film blends real-life footage, old photos and videos, and Huntt’s own spoken reflections, looking at issues of race, social class, and finding herself through her Dominican and Venezuelan heritage. Featuring interviews with her family and friends from the New York documentary scene, the film is directed and written by Huntt and will no longer be available on Hulu after October 23rd.

‘Press Play’ (2022)

A sci-fi romance film starring Clara Rugaard and Lewis Pullman tells the story of a woman who finds a mixtape that lets her travel back in time. She uses this ability to try and prevent a heartbreaking accident that took the life of her beloved. Directed and co-written by Greg Björkman (with James Bachelor), and developed with Josh Boone, the movie combines time travel with a modern love story. It’s available on Hulu until October 26th, and also features Danny Glover and Lyrica Okano.

‘Freud’s Last Session’ (2023)

This compelling drama takes place just before World War II and presents a fictional meeting between Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis. The film explores big questions about belief, logic, and death as the two thinkers debate their ideas. Anthony Hopkins plays Freud, and Matthew Goode portrays Lewis. The story also offers glimpses into Freud’s relationship with his daughter, Anna. Directed by Matthew Brown and based on Mark St. Germain’s play, the movie blends historical details with philosophical discussion. It will no longer be available on Netflix after October 21st.

‘Anyone But You’ (2023)

This fun, modern romantic comedy follows Bea and Ben, two exes who pretend to be a couple while attending a wedding. As they navigate the wedding chaos, old feelings start to resurface. The film stars Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, with Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, and Dermot Mulroney rounding out the cast. Directed by Will Gluck and co-written with Ilana Wolpert, it’s a lighthearted story inspired by classic comedy tropes. It will be leaving Netflix on October 24th.

‘Pete Holmes: I Am Not for Everyone’ (2023)

Pete Holmes is back with a new stand-up special where he talks about being a dad, relationships, and how his beliefs are changing. He delivers his comedy in a positive, story-telling way, mixing honesty with sharp observations. Filmed live, the show focuses on longer jokes and personal stories, rather than current events. If you want to watch, it’s leaving Netflix on October 25th.

‘Miller’s Girl’ (2024)

This film explores the complex relationship between a writing teacher and his promising student, delving into themes of mentorship, ethics, and how far someone will go for their art. What begins as a simple assignment quickly becomes complicated as the teacher becomes overly invested in the student’s work. Starring Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman, the movie, directed and written by Jade Halley Bartlett, focuses on the characters and the repercussions when professional boundaries are crossed. It’s available on Netflix until October 26th.
