Miley Cyrus’ Siblings Were ‘Embarrassed’ by Her Hannah Montana Stint, Singer Reveals How They Rebuilt Relationship

Miley Cyrus openly discusses the emotional strain and turmoil that affected her family for more than ten years, and how they managed to grow stronger without ever seeking professional counseling. In an interview on Monica Lewinsky’s podcast, Reclaiming, the 32-year-old vocalist shared insights into her experience mending broken bonds within her circle of loved ones, including a period when her siblings chose to stay apart during her Hannah Montana success.

Miley playfully commented, “Given our chaotic state, it seems we skipped right over therapy,” alluding to counseling sessions. She went on to discuss how the Cyrus family managed to mend their long-standing relationship issues.

At some stage, a portion of Miley Cyrus’s family members found themselves unable to communicate due to disagreements. Following the divorce between her parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus in 2022, the allegiances within the family became divided. Miley herself confided that she felt most connected to her mother during this time.

Involving several siblings born from different relationships of both parents – such as Brandi, Trace, Braison, Noah, and Cody – the family dynamics grew progressively complex. Miley candidly stated that simply arranging for everyone to attend counseling would have been like waging a war. She described this period as “really tough… a dark decade.

Instead of sticking with formal therapy sessions, Miley opted to be the spark that initiated change. In her own words, “I just sort of broke through the accumulated issues and simply said, ‘I’m here, you’re here, let’s start by enjoying each other’s company.'” Subsequently, heartfelt discussions ensued. She admitted it was simpler to surrender than engage in counseling.

She likened their accumulated emotional issues to the act of hoarding, pointing out that unresolved problems tend to pile up, creating confusion about where to start. However, with patience and determination, she managed to restore trust and intimacy. “Rebuilding those communication channels was a crucial aspect of my year,” Miley stressed.

Miley is now happily reunited with her parents and siblings, and she’s expressing this journey through her music. Her upcoming album features a track called “Secrets,” which deals with the suppressed truths that affected her family. Through openness, reconciliation, and mutual happiness, the Cyrus family has started mending their wounds without resorting to therapy sessions.
