Miley Cyrus Announces Hypnotic New Visual Album Inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall; Details

As a longtime Miley Cyrus fan who has witnessed her transformation from Hannah Montana to the boundary-pushing pop icon she is today, I am absolutely thrilled about her upcoming visual album. Her journey has been nothing short of captivating, and it’s incredible to see her continue to evolve and challenge herself artistically.

Fans of Miley Cyrus can eagerly look forward to fresh tunes from her, along with accompanying visual art. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar for their Art Issue (December 24/January 25), she revealed that she is creating a “visual album” set to drop next year. Cyrus mentioned to the magazine that the mood of this project will be both hypnotic and glamorous, with a focus on capturing elements of ‘sick culture’ through music. The singer behind ‘Flowers’ also referred to it as a concept album.

This project is influenced by Pink Floyd’s film “The Wall” (1982), a unique blend of live-action and animation that mirrors the famous album of the same name. As Cyrus shared with Bazaar, her vision was to create a modern version of “The Wall,” enhancing the wardrobe and adding more glamour, so it could seamlessly embody today’s pop culture aesthetic.

Panos Cosmatos is the one aiding Cyrus in the project. He’s the director of one of her favorite movies ever – Mandy from 2018, which features Nicolas Cage. Besides contributing to Cyrus’ issue for Bazaar, he also shared his thoughts about her newest musical venture during an interview with the magazine. Interestingly, he described this new project as more experimental than anything the Grammy winner has attempted so far.

In her chat with the media outlet, Cyrus emphasized that the aesthetic elements of her forthcoming album are influencing its sound – whether the songs deal with themes like destruction, heartbreak, or death. She assured her fans that the thought-provoking visuals accompanying these topics will be presented in an appealing manner, as she feels there’s always a touch of beauty to be found, even during the most challenging periods of life.

Cyrus is teaming up with her partner Maxx Moando for their upcoming album. He’s been responsible for producing several songs within this project and has also co-written the track “Something Beautiful,” which is currently slated to be the main title of the self-titled album. Cyrus shared that her boyfriend’s participation mirrors her past practice of working with people she cares about deeply.

In another part of the interview, Cyrus expressed her views about current issues in pop culture. The former Disney star disclosed that she recently contacted Chappell Roan following the singer’s public discussion on fan mistreatment. Cyrus expressed her hope that people would be kind to the 26-year-old and not make life difficult for her.
