Microsoft makes The Outer Worlds 2 cheaper and issues refunds

Ahead of its launch, Microsoft has decided to decrease the price of The Outer Worlds 2 from the initial $79.99 USD to $69.99 instead. Previously purchased pre-orders will automatically receive a refund.

As a gamer, I was all set to dive into Obsidian Entertainment’s new RPG, expecting it to be one of Microsoft’s flagship games priced at $79.99 – a price point they announced would be standard for their big releases in the future. However, it seems that the company might be second-guessing this pricing strategy or perhaps realizing that this price tag could be too steep for a single-player RPG like this one. The final decision remains unclear at this moment.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that giants like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are pushing the boundaries of my wallet this year. They’re asking for around $79.99 for their major game releases, and they’re also hiking up the prices on hardware and subscription services. It feels like the cost to play is getting steeper by the minute!

The Outer Worlds 2 is set to be released on October 29, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
