Micron Technology. The name itself doesn’t exactly sing, does it? But the numbers lately… they hum a different tune. Up 39% since the new year started. January 22nd, to be precise. Not bad for a company dealing in things most folks can’t see, let alone understand. They pulled in $13.6 billion last quarter. A 57% jump year-over-year. That’s the kind of revenue that makes even a cynic like me raise an eyebrow.
Some are saying it’s too late to get in. They always say that. I say, don’t let the recent climb scare you. There’s a reason for it, and it’s not just luck. It’s a shift, a change in the air, and Micron is right in the thick of it.
The AI Game: Memory is the New Real Estate
Artificial intelligence. Everyone’s talking about it. But all those algorithms, all that processing power… it needs a place to live. That place is memory. Specifically, high-bandwidth memory – HBM. It’s faster, more efficient. Micron is one of the big three players in that game – along with SK Hynix and Samsung. Three names, one prize.
They’ve landed the big fish, too. Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices, Intel… they’re all lining up for Micron’s chips. Partnerships aren’t just press releases; they’re lifelines. And Micron has a grip on several of them. They’re even phasing out their Crucial consumer business. Why? Because they’re swamped with orders. Sumit Sadana, their chief business officer, said they’re sold out for the year. Sold out. That’s not a forecast; it’s a statement.
Memory is becoming the bottleneck. The choke point. And that means Micron isn’t just building chips; they’re building leverage. The stock trades at 12 times forward earnings. Reasonable, even conservative, if they deliver. And based on what I’m seeing, they will. They’re not just riding the wave; they are the wave. It’s a simple equation, really. Demand is up. Supply is tight. And Micron is holding a lot of the cards. Don’t expect a miracle, but expect results. Sometimes, the most interesting stories aren’t about finding something new. They’re about recognizing what’s already there.
