The market’s a dirty business. You look for angles, for things the other guys miss. Right now, there’s a flicker in the memory chip sector, and it’s called Micron. Cheap stock, they say. Huge potential. It smelled like trouble, naturally. But sometimes, the best returns are found in the shadows.
Micron makes memory. Not the fancy logic chips Taiwan Semiconductor cranks out. Memory’s a commodity. Like sand. Lots of it. No real magic. Which usually means thin margins. But something’s shifted. Demand’s gone vertical.
Artificial intelligence. That’s the heat. These data centers, swallowing power, demanding memory like a thirsty man in the desert. RAM prices are climbing, and Micron’s in a position to collect. It’s a simple equation, really. Scarcity plus demand. But simplicity is rare in this game.
Wall Street’s predicting a leap in earnings. From $8.29 a share to $33.31 in the next fiscal year. Then another jump to $42.79 after that. That’s a climb, alright. A steep one. And the stock trades for a measly 13 times forward earnings. It’s almost…inviting. Almost.

The problem, as always, is the cycle. Memory’s a boom-and-bust business. Build too much capacity, and the party ends. Prices fall, margins disappear. It’s predictable, really. Like watching the tide come in. The question isn’t if it will happen, but when. And that’s where the risk lies.
They’re saying this AI buildout could last until 2030. Five years to ride the wave. Five years to make a profit. Enough time, maybe. But the market has a way of changing the rules just when you think you’ve figured them out. It’s a cruel mistress, this market.
I’m not a gambler, not by nature. I prefer steady returns, predictable growth. Micron feels…different. Too much reliance on a single trend. Too much risk. But I recognize opportunity when I see it. For those with a stronger stomach, it might be worth a look. A calculated risk, of course. There’s no such thing as a sure thing in this town. Just degrees of uncertainty.
I’ll stick to my side of the street, thank you very much. But I’ll be watching Micron. Just in case.
