In the initial movie trailer, Robert Pattinson’s character, Mickey, is depicted enduring various life-endangering situations like drowning in polluted waters, being trapped in treacherous winter creeks, and getting shot. Despite viewing this series of harrowing incidents at least 17 times, Mickey finds it hard to accept his own mortality and continues to be anxious even after repeating these cycles 17 times.
One funny moment in the trailer depicts the unfortunate death of Mickey as he loses one of his hands to floating debris in space, the debris which sails harmlessly by all the other crew members.

Director Bong Joon-ho humorously explained that the film’s title was changed from Mickey 7 to Mickey 17 because Mickey meets his end more frequently in the movie. At CinemaCon, he joked, “I kill him off ten times as much.” Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson couldn’t help but express his admiration for Bong, saying, “For a long time now, I have been an ardent admirer of Bong Joon-ho; he is my idol.
