Michelle Williams Not Part Of Venom: The Last Dance? Here’s What Film’s Director Has To Say

As an obsessed fan with a vast knowledge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I must say, the absence of Michelle Williams as Anne Weying in Venom: The Last Dance leaves me feeling like a Spider-Man without his iconic mask – it’s just not right! Having followed Kelly Marcel’s directorial journey since Saving Mr. Banks and Fifty Shades of Grey, I can’t help but wonder what magic she would have brought to the Venom universe with Williams by her side.

In a short while, the much-awaited movie “Venom: The Last Dance” will be shown in cinemas. While many familiar faces are returning from previous Venom films, one notable absence is Michelle Williams, who portrays Anne Weying.

In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s director, Kelly Marcel, explained that they intentionally kept Tom Holland’s character (Eddie Brock/Venom) separate from Williams in the movie to ensure an isolated experience for both characters.

She mentioned that they intended for the main characters to be removed from their familiar surroundings, leaving them dependent solely on each other.

Marcel went on to say, “It was clear to us that they should form a harmonious relationship where they would mutually agree to become the Lethal Protector, embarking on this adventure side by side.

She noted that it swiftly becomes a potentially perilous situation for them, as their union signals a threat to the world. She explained that they realized that their chosen action could ultimately lead to their demise, and only the characters from the previous Venom films who are relevant is Mrs. Chen in this narrative.

During the interview, Marcel was asked what she felt when rumors started making rounds that she would be directing the James Bond film. To which she expressed that that was a remarkable list to be on.

As an overjoyed admirer, I can’t help but express my awe! You see, the director herself admitted to being astounded – an extraordinary feat indeed, considering no female director had previously steered such a legendary film. Marcel, another fan like me, confided that such an event leaves you feeling incredibly humbled. The filmmaker, in her heartfelt gratitude, acknowledged her place among other remarkable directors.

The individuals reportedly set to take charge of the Bond film include Marcel, Bart Layton, Yann Demange, David Michod, and Edwards Berger.

Regarding Marcel’s forthcoming venture, it’s titled “Venom: The Last Dance” and is scheduled for release in theaters on October 25, 2024. This project boasts an impressive cast that includes Tom Hardy, Peggy Lu, Juno Temple, Cristo Fernandez, among others.
