He was talking about completely rewriting the score for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and it got me thinking about his overall work with Marvel. Then he dropped some fantastic news – he’s not only scoring but directing a sequel to Werewolf by Night! It’s great to see him returning to the director’s chair after making such a unique and fun special. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
Giacchino strongly recommends watching Werewolf by Night, which is available on Disney+, playfully suggesting it might even win back some of the subscribers the service recently lost after some content was removed. He hinted at this connection, likely referencing recent cancellations.
The Disney+ Halloween special was well-received by both audiences and critics. Like The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special before it, it showed how Marvel could tell enjoyable, standalone stories on the streaming platform. Many expected more specials, and because the characters in Werewolf by Night—including Man-Thing—survived and were left open for continuation, a sequel seemed like a natural next step. However, Disney simply re-released the special in color instead.
I’ve been waiting so long for the next chapter after Jack Russell, played by Gael García Bernal, barely escaped those monster hunters! Honestly, when it will actually arrive is still a mystery – we don’t know when Giacchino plans to film it, or when we’ll finally get to see it. It might be ready for next Halloween, but it could be as late as 2027! I’m hoping it’s much sooner, but even just knowing it’s still happening is exciting news, and I can’t help but feel thrilled about it!
