On a recent episode of The Tonight Show, the Assassin’s Creed actor shared an experience where he got caught in massive waves on a boat while listening to ABBA. Prior to this harrowing event, he hadn’t given much thought to the Swedish pop band, but his trip to Ibiza transformed his perspective entirely.
Michael Fassbender shared that he’s not particularly fond of ABBA. This revelation came during a trip they took to Ibiza, although they were actually in Formentera; they were even boarding a boat from Formentera to Ibiza.
Later on, Michael Fassbender mentioned during his interview with Jimmy Fallon that after enjoying lunch, he and his companions were planning to return. However, the weather had turned stormy, making it impossible for them to head back to shore since they had already taken their small boat out to their larger vessel, which was where they intended to depart from Ibiza.
As they navigated the waters, the situation grew more treacherous as the storm intensified. This caused various objects to be thrown about, forcing the actor and others in the boat to secure their belongings.
Michael Fassbender mentioned that ABBA’s music was playing aboard a boat as he clung to it. “It all clicked with me then,” the versatile actor from Germany and Ireland explained.
Further having a laugh on the show, Fassbender mentioned that a person is always safe with ABBA.
Later, the movie star expressed that at the moment, he had pondered whether it was the end for everyone, and he found it fitting that ABBA’s song, “This seems like a great soundtrack for dying,” would play.
