Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are celebrating the new year in a unique way – by swapping glamorous events for a trip to the South Pole!

Hollywood stars, ages 81 and 56, recently took their family on an exciting trip to Antarctica. They were accompanied by their two grown children, Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22.

The family shared a happy photo on social media from their trip to Antarctica. The picture was captioned simply, “Greetings from Antarctica!” and shows the four of them looking ready for the cold, sitting on the side of a small inflatable boat.

The group stood out in vibrant red parkas and black waterproof pants against the snowy landscape. They all wore life vests, sunglasses, and hats, and posed with a stunning view of huge glaciers and snow. This trip was a chance for the family to connect, especially as the younger members get ready to start their careers in entertainment.

Last October, Carys shared that she’s strongly considering a career in performing arts, just like her parents. Growing up surrounded by theater gave her a real love for the work, and while she didn’t formally study acting, she’s hoping to pursue it as a profession.

She’s starting this new chapter after graduating from Brown University in May 2025 with a degree in film and international relations. Her brother, Dylan, also seems interested in a career similar to the family business and the entertainment industry; he graduated from Brown in 2022.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ son, Dylan, is preparing to launch his acting career with a film called I Will Come to You, a suspenseful psychological thriller. This project follows a significant personal event for the couple, who recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in November.

The actress posted a heartfelt message on Instagram on November 18th, celebrating a special anniversary. She reminisced about her wedding day in 2000 and told her husband she loves him just as much now as she did then. Their long-lasting marriage is unusual in Hollywood, having lasted over twenty years under public scrutiny.

He has a son, Cameron Douglas, from that marriage – Cameron is now 47 and also works as an actor and writer. Michael Douglas is the son of the famous Kirk Douglas, meaning his daughters, Dylan and Carys, represent the third generation of actors in their family.

Recently, Michael Douglas experienced a career resurgence, attracting a new generation of fans through his portrayal of Hank Pym in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Ant-Man films. He also received widespread praise for his leading role in the Netflix comedy The Kominsky Method, winning a Golden Globe for his performance.
