
Michael DeLano, a veteran of the film and television industries, has died at 84. According to his wife, Jean Delano, he passed away on October 20th following a heart attack while hospitalized in Las Vegas. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news.
DeLano had a successful acting career that lasted for many years. He first gained recognition on television in the 1970s with recurring parts in popular shows like ABC’s “Firehouse,” where he played Sonny Capito, and NBC’s “Supertrain.” He’s also fondly remembered for his role as the lounge singer Johnny Venture on “Rhoda.”
DeLano wasn’t just on television; he also appeared in films, most notably as a casino manager in “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Ocean’s Twelve.” His last credited acting role was in the USA Network series “Royal Pains” in 2012.
DeLano lived in Las Vegas since the early 1990s and was a well-known musician there. He often performed at the Dispensary Lounge, where he was famous for his traditional singing style.
