Initially airing in 2006, the unconventional tale of Dexter – a forensic scientist who doubles as a vigilante serial killer – quickly gained immense popularity. With Michael C. Hall spearheading the series, it transformed into a beloved cult classic. Although it concluded in 2013, it has since evolved into an ongoing franchise.

After the return of Dexter in “Dexter: New Blood,” I was thrilled to see more of his story unfold. Not long after, a prequel titled “Dexter: Origin” made its debut, deepening my anticipation. Now, I eagerly await the premier of “Dexter: Resurrection” this year, which promises to continue this intriguing narrative.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming series, as its creators, Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall, have shared an intriguing strategy that, if executed, promises to be nothing short of extraordinary!

You’re aware that both “Dexter: New Blood” and particularly “Dexter: Origin” were unique, one-time occurrences, not part of an ongoing series. While “New Blood” could possibly develop further narrative threads, “Origin” was a true prequel, a standalone story. We think it’s best to let these tales be for now, as they are – they were fantastic and should remain as such.

From another perspective, given the storyline concepts and character details we have about “Dexter: Resurrection“, it appears that this series holds a seemingly boundless narrative scope. This is an idea that showrunner Scott Hall has subtly suggested by stating, “We’ve got one of Showtime’s strongest franchises, and we aim to continue this for years.

Michael C. Hall concurred, stating, “It’s not about returning for another standalone episode, but rather keeping the door open for future developments. The plan is for the narrative to progress beyond this point… He portrays a more realistic, human version of that horror archetype who stubbornly resists defeat.

It’s unclear whether this is merely a hint or if discussions with the studio have taken place, but should this indeed be a genuine plan, our excitement knows no bounds, and we eagerly anticipate what the writers have in store for us!
