Met Gala 2025 Creates History Hours Before the Main Event, Raises Record-Breaking 31 Million USD

2025’s Met Gala is almost upon us, and even before the stars grace the red carpet, the event organizers have already managed to gather a staggering 31 million USD for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as reported by the New York Times. As the guests prepare to make their grand entrance up the gala’s legendary steps, they will be doing so while adhering to this year’s theme: Superfine – Exploring the Art of Black Tailoring.

Following the snapping of celebrities on the event’s red carpet, they will have the opportunity to observe the showcase, expressing admiration for how black men have creatively reshaped fashion. For this year’s gala, A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, LeBron James, and Lewis Hamilton were chosen as co-chairs to align with the theme of the event. These gentlemen will be joined by Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue.

Speaking candidly on the topic, Wintour expressed that it held a deeply significant and heartfelt resonance for her. Additionally, she emphasized the importance of offering the Black fashion community all the support we can muster.

Over the past few years, notable figures such as Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and others have casually sauntered through the lens of the paparazzi, striking poses that continue to shape cultural trends and contribute significantly to raising funds for museums.

In her chat with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America, the editor of Vogue expressed her hope that the upcoming exhibition would shine a spotlight on the immense styling talent of everyone involved.

She went on to say, “Observe their customs, their past, and their way of life. However, what stands out to me particularly is that when I watch the show, it embodies liberty, emancipation, optimism, regard, and happiness.

Furthermore, even though the topic has changed from last year, certain regulations persist. For instance, attendees will still be prohibited from bringing their cellphones to the location, and also, no food containing onions, garlic, or any strong-smelling ingredients will be permitted.
