Meryl Streep and Greta Gerwig Reunion on the Cards? Actress Joins Talks for Netflix’s The Chronicles of the Narnia Films

Meryl Streep is being considered for a role in The Chronicles of Narnia series, potentially taking on the part of Aslan, a male lion figure who serves as protector and guide within the world of Narnia. This upcoming adaptation will be helmed by director Greta Gerwig.

The upcoming project is a reimagining of “The Magician’s Nephew,” with Gerwig handling both the writing and directing for the digital adaptations. As for the movies’ storyline, it remains undisclosed at this time, but as per the books, the tales will revolve around the beginnings of Narnia’s history.

Through the mystical abilities of Uncle Kirke, portrayed by Daniel Craig (according to Deadline’s reports), Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer embark on a journey to an enchanted realm.

Notably, there’s talk that Charli XCX could take on the part of the White Witch, Jadis. It’s anticipated that filming will start this year, with the initial movie set to hit theaters in 2026.

As for Streep, the Oscar-winning actress last appeared in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building.

She’s also been involved in projects like Don’t Look Up and Extrapolations recently. If she continues with her movie roles, audiences can expect a reunion of the actress from The Devil Wears Prada with Gerwig, who previously collaborated with her on Little Women.

The duo was last seen together at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024.
