As a lifestyle expert who has spent years immersed in the world of entertainment and politics, I find it disheartening to see individuals like Mel Gibson, once celebrated for his groundbreaking work in cinema, resorting to such divisive and offensive language.
More recently, Mel Gibson criticized Kamala Harris, questioning both her policies and intelligence. In contrast, during the upcoming presidential election, it seems that Harris enjoys the most backing among celebrities. Some have shown their support for her at campaign events; however, it’s clear that Gibson is not among them.
Throughout her campaigns, Harris has been supported by or endorsed by prominent figures such as Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Taylor Swift, Julia Roberts, and Spike Lee. On the other hand, Trump has recently received an endorsement from Mel Gibson in Hollywood.
In a video published by TMZ on Thursday, Gibson was captured strolling through airport security while conversing with a camera crew, donning a trucker hat. He criticized Harris, implying she’s not very intelligent, comparing her to a fence post, and voiced his support for Trump, suggesting it would be detrimental for America if Harris were to win in a close election against the former president.
Gibson suggested that Harris’s background is dismal and unimpressive, with little to no policies proposed. He put it this way: “I can tell you what we’d be in for if [Harris] were elected. It wouldn’t be good. A poor history of achievements. Not many policies worth mentioning. Her intellect seems comparable to a picket fence.
In my fervor as a dedicated supporter, I must share that Trump’s criticism of Vice President Harris seems to align with what I’ve heard. He took aim at her intelligence in a rather unrefined manner, disparaging her responses during an interview with CBS, likening them to those from a mental institution. At his rally in Georgia, he went as far as to question her intellect, stating that she’s not intelligent and possesses a low IQ.
Reflecting on Gibson’s recent dispute, people often find themselves recalling his past controversies, including his derogatory remarks against Jews and the offensive comments he made towards a female police officer in 2006 during a DUI stop in Malibu, which she described as ‘sugartits’. Although he later issued an apology, there have been reports of additional instances involving racist language.
In 2020, Winona Ryder claimed that Gibson had made inappropriate remarks about Jewish women by asking their whereabouts at a Hollywood event. Additionally, she publicly criticized Gibson for making offensive and disrespectful comments about contracting AIDS due to his association with her gay friend.
In contrast to Harris’s cryptic stance on Gibson, she has openly criticized Trump in the past. During a CNN town hall on October 23, she referred to him as “increasingly unhinged and unstable,” and even went so far as to call him a “fascist.” This year, Trump himself posted a picture of Gibson on his social media platform, Truth Social, praising the actor by saying, “Either way, Mel Gibson is AWESOME!
After serving time for a traffic violation and facing controversy over anti-Semitic remarks, Mel Gibson temporarily stepped away from Hollywood’s spotlight following his notable films The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto in 2006. However, he solidified his place in the film industry once again with the release of Hacksaw Ridge in 2016, which was widely praised by critics.
