Meghan Markle Mourns the Loss of Her Beloved Rescue Dog Guy: ‘I Have Cried Too Many Tears To Count’

Meghan Markle is deeply grieving over the passing of her cherished rescue dog, Guy, whom she saved from a shelter in Kentucky back in 2015.

On January 7th, Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex, who is 43 years old, announced her dog’s passing through a recent Instagram post. In part, she wrote, “I have shed countless tears—tears that seem to wash away only when I step under the shower, hoping the running water on my face might make them disappear or hide their presence. Yet they remain. And that’s alright too. Thank you for so many years of boundless affection, dear Guy. You’ve enriched my life in ways you may never understand. As always, Meghan.

Meghan has always had this one person by her side, from her Suits acting days to her engagement and marriage with Prince Harry, and even during her pregnancy. This constant presence in her life is a beagle, who also appeared briefly in the trailer for Meghan’s upcoming Netflix series, titled With Love, Meghan.

In a heartfelt post on social media, Meghan shared a collection of family memories featuring Guy, along with tender moments with her children Prince Archie (age 5) and Princess Lilibet (age 3). She expressed her wish that viewers of her program would come to love Guy just as she has.

About his special name, Meghan mentioned that the carers at the Kentucky shelter nicknamed him “the little one” because of his petite and delicate build, which led to his name being Guy. She added, “He was the most wonderful guy any girl could hope for.

Meghan went on to recount stories about her late pet, describing the unfortunate incident he experienced just before they relocated to the UK. After initial operations, she was informed that he wouldn’t walk again, but a doctor later gave her reassurance that proved accurate. During Guy’s treatment in Surrey, Markle mentioned that after work hours, she and her spouse often drove late at night to check on his progress for several months.
