Meghan Corrects Mindy: It’s Sussex Now!

The ongoing feud between the royal family and Meghan Markle stretches back over time. Despite Prince Harry and the former Suits actress leaving royal life and England long ago, they still use their official titles and names in various capacities. For instance, this was evident in Meghan’s latest Netflix production, “With Love, Meghan,” where she arranged a lunch date with Mindy Kaling as part of the project.

Meghan Markle stated that she now goes by “Sussex” instead of her birth name, aligning it with her children’s surname. She disclosed this tidbit during a conversation with Mindy Kaling on the latest installment of her newly launched Netflix culinary program.

In the course of their talk, Kaling continued to call her “Meghan Markle.” However, Meghan gently corrected her by saying, “It’s amusing that you persist in calling me ‘Meghan Markle.’ After all, I’m now known as ‘Sussex.’

Meghan articulated her choice by stating, “When you have children, it feels natural to share your name with them. I hadn’t realized how significant this would become for me, but now it carries such deep meaning to say, ‘This is our family name.’

After Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, the surnames of her grandchildren were officially changed, enabling them to use their princely titles according to royal regulations. Originally known as Archie and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, they are now recognized in the royal family as Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.

Initially, Meghan’s name on Archie’s birth certificate was written as “Rachel Meghan, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.” However, this was later changed to just “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex,” omitting her first and middle names. Although Meghan and Harry no longer use the title “HRH” following their departure from royal duties, they are still referred to as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Upon the release of the video online, numerous viewers expressed their disapproval towards Meghan Markle for asserting that “Sussex” is her surname. @tracywindsor6263 commented, “Her last name isn’t Sussex,” and @tanyaclark3474 added, “Sussex is her title, not her family name, she appears to be so oblivious, it’s shameful.” @bobochan2005 voiced their concerns over her decision, stating, “Given all the turmoil she has caused to the British royal family, one might expect her to stop using a royal surname in public.
