As a lifestyle expert with extensive experience in legal matters and celebrity culture, I find myself deeply concerned about this ongoing saga between Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion. It seems that the lines of justice are becoming increasingly blurred in this case.
In response to Megan Thee Stallion’s request for a temporary restraining order filed on December 17, 2024, Tory Lanez has asserted that the justice system is being manipulated. This comes after he was imprisoned following the 2020 incident where he accidentally shot Megan’s foot, resulting in a 10-year prison sentence.
As reported by People, on December 24, Daystar Peterson (also known as Lanez) challenged the petition submitted by the Neva Play rapper on December 17, by filing a motion in the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles County.
As an ardent supporter, I’m here to clarify a point regarding the recent court filing. Tekashi69, 32, claims Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, 29, misused her power in civil courts by requesting a restraining order against him without ever having had a direct confrontation with me. In essence, the motion suggests that Megan’s plea was unwarranted, as we’ve never engaged in any form of interaction.
The paper states that the artist known as Hiss allegedly chose to misuse the civil court system in Los Angeles County by filing an unfounded petition for a civil harassment restraining order against Daystar Peterson, whom he hasn’t had any direct interactions with Miss Pete.
The argument also claims that the popular artist known as Mamushi, given her public status, has been abusing her power and assets to stifle differing opinions. This action, they contend, is a disguised attempt at suppressing free speech, rather than addressing disagreements openly in the public sphere by means of the restraining order.
Part of Lanez’s document reads, “When a celebrity with millions of dollars and backed by a large corporation disagrees with free speech or opinions, they weaponize the justice system, failing to understand that they are public figures who voluntarily catapulted themselves into the limelight, unable to deal with the controversy and public opinions.”
Lanez argues that California law prohibits restraining orders that infringe upon constitutionally guaranteed free speech. However, Megan’s lawyer, Mari Henderson, counters by stating that despite Lanez’s past conviction for committing violence against Megan, he persists in challenging the protective order imposed on him.
She stated to the media source, “It’s unrealistic to believe that an individual who was found guilty of committing a violent crime involving gunfire against a victim, followed by harassment, would challenge a protective order request. We trust the court will take necessary steps to ensure the safety of the victim.
On January 9, 2025, a first court hearing concerning Megan Thee Stallion’s request for a temporary protection order against Tory Lanez is planned.
