Over the weekend, Megan Fox revisited the premiere of her 2009 film, Jennifer’s Body, at a special screening in Los Angeles. The 39-year-old actress was at the Academy Museum for the event, where she and director Karyn Kusama discussed the movie and its continued popularity in a question-and-answer session.
The screening also revealed that writer Diablo Cody is working on a script for a potential sequel.
In January 2024, Cody said he feels happiest when someone tells him they enjoy the movie.
Fox recalled the difficult experience she had at the premiere of a previous film, specifically mentioning the aggressive behavior of the paparazzi. She explained to People that she’s often required to attend these events, but remembers the paparazzi being particularly harsh towards women back then.
She remembered desperately trying to get to her car while people aggressively questioned her. She recalled one person asking, “Megan, why are you such a terrible person?” and another saying, “Megan, do you think you’re overrated? Everyone online thinks so.” She was just trying to do her job.
Honestly, the whole experience was really tough for me. I was invited to the premiere, and while trying to get to my car, I just felt overwhelmed with sadness, grief, and a lot of anger. It was like I needed a way to let it all out. Being on set, and having the space to just feel everything – even between takes – was incredibly freeing and actually helped me process everything. It was a really cathartic experience, being able to just let go.
At the Los Angeles event, Megan Fox celebrated the movie’s horror style with a bold, blood-red outfit, acknowledging its dedicated fanbase. Viewers who saw the screening were thrilled and hopeful for a potential return to the darkly funny world of Jennifer’s Body.
