Meet the MCU’s First Drag Queen: Shea Couleé Shines in ‘Ironheart’!

The MCU has its first Drag Queen.

Check out a first look at Shea Couleé in Marvel’s upcoming Ironheart series coming to Disney+.

The Chicago-based performer shared with Entertainment Weekly that the audience will catch glimpses of the diva in various outfits, hinting at “Slug,” a strong hacker and significant character in the upcoming installment of Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther Disney+ series.

Gangsters turned activists

Previously, Anthony Ramos disclosed that the storyline for Ironheart revolves around individuals who were once gangsters transforming into advocates. This notion is supported by Couleé as well.

Shea stated, ‘I assist a band of modern-day Robin Hoods in redistributing wealth from the affluent towards the community. I participate in all the operations aimed at changing the power structure within the Chicago portrayed in the series.’

Uses pronouns

Couleé’s MCU character also apparently uses pronouns.

He mentioned that the portrayal of ‘Slug’ appears to be a codename, revealing limited information about their personal history. To keep certain individuals from finding them, it would be beneficial if they had an alternate name to use,” he explained.

The Draq Queen is also a part of the character and plot.

Shea mentioned that they once performed as a drag queen but have moved away from that lifestyle now. You might catch glimpses of this past phase in flashback scenes, as they’ve chosen to keep a low profile these days.

Ironheart premiers with the first three episodes June 24 on Disney+.
