Meet the Fresh Faces of Neville and Dudley in HBO’s Upcoming Harry Potter Series!

In the upcoming Harry Potter TV series on HBO, Rory Wilmot has been cast as Neville Longbottom, while Amos Kitson has been selected to play Dudley Dursley. These relatively unknown actors are set to bring these iconic characters to life for fans.

In addition to what’s already been mentioned, the company also disclosed some exciting casting details. Louise Brealey has been chosen to portray Madam Hooch, the flying instructor at Hogwarts. Anton Lesser, a seasoned actor known for his roles in Game of Thrones and Andor, will play Ollivander, the wand-maker character.

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that a fresh take on the Harry Potter saga is underway! Unlike the films, this new series will meticulously adapt each of J.K. Rowling’s seven books, promising a level of detail that was previously unattainable on the silver screen. Filming is currently in progress, and the enchanting world of Hogwarts will grace our screens again starting in 2027, exclusively on HBO and HBO Max.

The concept for this show traces back to as early as 2021. According to media reports, Warner Bros. had been contemplating a Harry Potter series even then. In 2022, David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, engaged in discussions with J.K. Rowling about potential new projects set within the wizarding universe.

Beginning in April 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery unveiled their upcoming Harry Potter television series. Originally planned for release on Max, their streaming platform, the series now has J.K. Rowling serving as an executive producer. She expressed her excitement about contributing to this fresh interpretation, stating that “I am eager to contribute to this new adaptation, which will offer a level of depth and detail only possible through a longer-format television series.

Initially, the plan was for the series to debut in 2026. However, in June 2024, the decision was made to air it on HBO rather than Max.

By June 2024, it was announced that Francesca Gardiner would assume the role of the show’s manager. Mark Mylod is set to direct and contribute to the series’ production as well. David Heyman, known for producing the initial Harry Potter films, has also signed on to be part of the team working behind the scenes.

Just a few months ago, it was revealed that the principal roles were cast: Dominic McLaughlin takes on Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton portrays Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout steps into the shoes of Ron Weasley.

As Neville and Dudley have been selected for the roles, the landscape of the upcoming Harry Potter series is gradually becoming tangible. Patience is required, but before long, additional characters beloved by fans will reappear on-screen, enriching the narrative in this fresh retelling.
