As a gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the Star Wars universe, I must say, the news about The Acolyte’s cancellation has left me feeling like a Wookiee losing its home tree – a bit disheartened, but not entirely surprised given the show’s rocky journey. However, amidst the sadness, I found solace in Manny Jacinto’s captivating portrayal of Qimir. His performance was a beacon of hope in an otherwise turbulent season.
It’s been a while since Star Wars enthusiasts found out that The Acolyte won’t continue for another season. Before its debut, the series stirred up controversy, with both fans and critics noting several issues in different areas. If you’ve been monitoring the ratings, this news might not be shocking, as the show had been experiencing a gradual decrease in viewers every week.
As a devoted gamer, I must admit that the show had its share of problems, but there were certain episodes that somehow salvaged it, albeit arriving way too late for any real impact. One aspect that truly shone was Manny Jacinto’s portrayal of Qimir, an intriguing new Sith Lord who seemed to be linked to Darth Plagueis.
News about The Acolyte not getting a second season has left me and many fans feeling quite disheartened. As a show of solidarity, we’ve started using the hashtag #SaveTheAcolyte on social media, and a Change.org petition has been created to appeal to Disney for reconsideration. In the meantime, I’m keeping my fingers crossed, and it’s heartening to see other prominent stars like Simu Liu, known as MCU’s Shang-Chi, voicing their support for Manny Jacinto.
Simu Liu praised X by saying that Jacinto is a welcome change for the series, noting his unique charm, and commending his impressive physical build.
Your contribution to the franchise has been incredibly invigorating, and your dedication to your character was palpable in every glance, gesture, and close-up bicep scene. Cheers to you, @MannyJacinto; a genuine artist, an undeniable badass, and utterly charming!

Simu Liu and Manny Jacinto are currently two of the most prominent Asian actors, and their careers have followed a similar path. They first gained fame through popular, critically acclaimed TV shows before transitioning to leading roles in action series owned by Disney. At this moment, it’s unclear what Jacinto’s future holds in the Star Wars universe; however, whispers suggest that a sequel to Shang-Chi might be in progress, with Liu providing some optimistic updates.
