‘MCU’ Stars: Where Are They Now?

The Marvel movies helped make a lot of actors huge stars, and they’ve continued to find success with awards, new movie series, and high-quality TV shows. Here’s an update on what some of the biggest names from the Marvel films have been up to since their time as superheroes.

Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. received critical acclaim and awards for his performance in ‘Oppenheimer’ and quickly followed it up with the limited series ‘The Sympathizer.’ He also returned to the theater with the Broadway production of ‘McNeal.’ In addition to acting, he continues to produce movies and television shows through his production company.

Chris Evans

Chris Evans has starred in romantic comedies like the Apple Original film ‘Ghosted’ and dramatic roles in Netflix’s ‘Pain Hustlers’. Before that, he was the lead in the action movie ‘The Gray Man’ and provided the voice for Buzz Lightyear in the animated film ‘Lightyear’. While acting, he’s also been carefully choosing projects and working on producing films of his own.

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson appeared in ‘Asteroid City’ and took the lead role in ‘Fly Me to the Moon’. In addition to acting, she continued to provide voice work for animated projects and produce films through her production company. Beyond her on-screen work, she’s also been involved in theater and various business ventures.

Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth reprised his role as Tyler Rake in ‘Extraction 2’ and portrayed the villain Dementus in ‘Furiosa’. He also provided the voice for a young Optimus Prime in ‘Transformers One’. Additionally, he hosted the science and wellness documentary series ‘Limitless With Chris Hemsworth’.

Mark Ruffalo

Mark Ruffalo is on a roll, and I have to say, his work in ‘Poor Things’ was phenomenal – truly deserving of the praise it’s getting. He also recently popped up in ‘All the Light We Cannot See,’ and now he’s back with a really compelling new crime drama that’s clearly designed to make you *think*. It’s great to see him balancing these big studio projects with his passion for independent films and his continued work as an advocate and producer. He’s not just an actor, he’s using his platform, and it shows in the quality of everything he does.

Jeremy Renner

Jeremy Renner returned to work on the series ‘Mayor of Kingstown’, continuing both filming and promotional activities. He’s been managing his recovery alongside his work on the show and personal music projects. His production company is also still creating new television concepts.

Tom Hiddleston

After finishing his role in ‘Loki’ season two, Tom Hiddleston appeared in the film ‘The Life of Chuck’, based on a Stephen King story. He continued to lend his voice to nature documentaries such as ‘Big Beasts’ and ‘Earthsounds’, and remained active in theatre with notable stage roles.

Brie Larson

As a huge movie fan, I’ve been following Brie Larson’s career closely. This year, she was back as Captain Marvel in ‘The Marvels,’ and she also took on a really interesting role in the limited series ‘Lessons in Chemistry.’ Plus, she popped up in the high-octane action of ‘Fast X’! What I really admire, though, is that she’s not just acting – she’s actively working behind the scenes to produce and support stories that center around women, both in movies and on TV. It’s fantastic to see!

Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L. Jackson starred as Nick Fury in the Disney+ series ‘Secret Invasion’ and continued to lend his voice to animated films. He also appeared in the latest installments of popular movie franchises, solidifying his status as a consistently working actor in both streaming and cinema.

Elizabeth Olsen

After starring in ‘WandaVision’, Olsen appeared in the true-crime series ‘Love and Death’. She’s continued to work on high-quality television shows while also remaining involved with future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. In film, she’s balanced work on smaller, independent movies with larger studio productions.

Paul Rudd

Paul Rudd reprised his role in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ and continued his work on the comedy series ‘Only Murders in the Building’. He also appeared in ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ and remains focused on creating and acting in comedies that center around interesting characters.

Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana juggled working on the blockbuster ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ with smaller streaming series like ‘Special Ops: Lioness’. She continues to play a key role in the ‘Avatar’ movies, and through her production company, she supports films that explore diverse cultures and global stories.

Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch reprised his role as Doctor Strange in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and also appeared in several films and limited series released on streaming services. He continued to work in theatre and voice acting, including animated projects and audio dramas. He’s also still involved with his production company, developing scripted television shows.

Tom Holland

Tom Holland recently appeared in the drama series ‘The Crowded Room’ and the thriller ‘Uncharted’. He’s continuing to hone his skills through stage work and carefully choosing film roles, all while considering his future in major franchises. He’s still expected to be involved with upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ movies.

Zendaya

Zendaya starred in both the blockbuster film ‘Dune: Part Two’ and the sports drama ‘Challengers’. She’s also continuing her leading role in the popular series ‘Euphoria’, with new episodes currently being developed. In addition to acting, Zendaya is increasingly known for her fashion sense and work as a producer.

Anthony Mackie

Anthony Mackie transitioned from his role in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ to leading the ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ film. He’s also explored action-packed roles in the series ‘Twisted Metal’ and works as a producer, focusing on films set in and around New Orleans and the Gulf South.

Sebastian Stan

Recently, Stan has appeared in the thriller ‘Fresh’ and several acclaimed biographical films shown at festivals. He’s still known for his role as Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he’s also been taking on more challenging roles in high-quality limited series and continues to work on projects adapted from stage plays.

Karen Gillan

After finishing her role as Nebula in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, Karen Gillan moved on to the action film ‘Gunpowder Milkshake’. She’s also been working on smaller, independent films, providing voice work for animated projects, and even writing and directing her own short films.

Letitia Wright

Angela Bassett starred in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and has since worked on a variety of projects, including independent and faith-based films. She consistently supports new filmmakers and balances work on major studio movies with international productions.

Simu Liu

Simu Liu starred in ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ and had a role in the popular film ‘Barbie’. He’s proven versatile, leading both romantic comedies and action movies, and also continues to appear on variety and competition shows. He’s still set to be involved in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.
