McDonald’s Partners with NFT Brand Doodles to Say GM

As a researcher with a penchant for both technology and pop culture, I find this collaboration between McDonald’s and Doodles to be a fascinating blend of the old and the new, the traditional and the digital. Growing up, I remember the joy of collecting physical trading cards, and now, here we are in 2024, experiencing a similar thrill through digital pack-ripping!


Going beyond just attractive coffee cup designs, this collaboration provides customers with special digital perks. By ordering a McCafé drink via the McDonald’s app, you get a chance to participate in a digital “pack opening” experience, similar to unveiling collectible cards. The digital packs contain exclusive Doodles-themed items like character accessories, digital clothing for your avatar, and access to animated content on the Doodles’ Stoodio platform.

The collaboration expands into the tangible world through a special edition series of jointly branded clothing and trinkets, seamlessly merging McDonald’s classic symbols with Doodles’ artistic touch. To further enhance the experience, the promotional effort includes a fresh track called “Good Mornin'” by artist Marley Bleu, which Pharrell Williams produced. Notably, Pharrell has taken on the role of Chief Brand Officer for Doodles since 2022.

This alliance aligns with McDonald’s plan to improve its coffee selection and attract customers via unique, culturally resonant partnerships.
