As a seasoned gamer and self-proclaimed “Friends” aficionado, I must say this collaboration between McDonald’s Spain and the iconic 90s sitcom is nothing short of genius! Growing up with Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe, their witty banter and heartwarming camaraderie have left an indelible mark on my life.
In honor of the 30th anniversary of the debut of the cherished 90s sitcom, “Friends,” McDonald’s Spain introduced a Happy Meal themed around the show. This special edition Happy Meal is aimed at adults instead of its typical young audience, hinting at potential future strategies for McDonald’s to cater to older customers.
Since the Happy Meal is designed for adults now, the six-piece chicken McNuggets might not be sufficient. Instead, the revamped Happy Meal offers a variety of options like the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, McRoyal Deluxe, CBO, or McChicken. Furthermore, as a tribute to Monica Gellar from the popular TV show Friends and her cooking skills, this new version includes an exclusive sauce called Monica’s Marinara. And of course, you’ll still get your regular drink and fries with the meal.
Each Happy Meal comes with a mini-figure of one of the Friends characters, with a total of six different ones to collect. During the entire month, you can find all main characters such as Phoebe, Joey, Ross, Rachel, Chandler, and Monica in the Happy Meals. At the end of the month, any remaining figures will still be available for customers to finish their collections.
McDonald’s Spain is planning to launch a daily “Friends” trivia contest, where five lucky participants will win every day. The winners will receive 500 reward points that can be used to purchase unique “Friends” merchandise such as a tote bag or key holder frame.
On October 10th, I’ll be stepping into a magical world as McDonald’s on Montera Street in Madrid turns into Central Perk, the legendary coffee shop from my favorite show! It’s going to feel like I’ve been transported right onto the set, just like in the ad for McDonald’s Spain. Can’t wait to relive all those iconic scenes!
