McConaughey and Ferrera Fight to Save 22 Kids in Apple’s Gripping Wildfire Thriller!

Apple Original Films has unveiled a teaser for The Lost Bus, an edge-of-your-seat thriller featuring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera. This film is inspired by the horrific 2018 Camp Fire incident in Paradise, California, and tells the story of a school bus driver and teacher who courageously strive to rescue 22 children caught up in the turmoil.

Based on a True Story

The movie titled “The Lost Bus” is based on the book “Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire” written by journalist Lizzie Johnson. Jamie Lee Curtis introduced the story to Blumhouse Productions after listening to Johnson talk about it on NPR. Alongside her role as a producer, Johnson is also involved in the project.

McConaughey, Ferrera Lead the Cast

McConaughey takes on the role of the driver, while Ferrera assumes the character of a teacher who works with him as flames approach. The ensemble additionally features Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson, and Spencer Watson.

Behind the Camera

Paul Greengrass, known for movies like “United 93” and “Captain Phillips,” teams up with the creator of “Mare of Easttown,” Brad Ingelsby, on the script. The film is produced by Brad Ingelsby, Jason Blum, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Gregory Goodman.

Coming This Fall

In autumn 2025, “The Missing Bus” will premiere in selected cinemas and on Apple TV+. Apple is marketing the movie as a gripping tale of rescue and survival, while also providing insights into how communities cope during some of the nation’s most devastating disasters.
