As an ardent admirer of exceptional storytelling and captivating performances, I can hardly contain my excitement for “The Beast In Me.” The prospect of Matthew Rhys and Claire Danes sharing the screen is nothing short of a dream come true, especially when they’re delving into such intriguing characters.
Matthew Rhys, an award-winning actor, has been chosen to star as one of the main characters in Netflix’s upcoming mystery thriller, “The Beast Within Me.” As its title implies, the story will explore the characters’ internal struggles and the devastating consequences these demons have on their lives. Claire Danes, recognized for her role in the 1994 version of Little Women, has also been confirmed to play the other lead character!
The narrative unfolds around celebrated writer Aggie Wiggs (portrayed by Danes), whose life spirals out of control following the heartrending demise of her young child. In the wake of this tragedy, she retreats from the public eye, grapples with her ability to create, and is tormented by a spectral version of her youthful self.
Eventually, she discovers a topic for her book following an encounter with the enigmatic real estate tycoon Nile Sheldon (Rhys), who had previously been suspected in his wife’s vanishing. Wiggs becomes mysteriously captivated by this man and is unable to resist delving into his secrets and confronting his inner turmoil, instead of dealing with her own issues. Interestingly, neither of them realize that their game of cat and mouse is heading towards a potentially lethal climax.
Rhys is primarily recognized for his performance as KGB Agent Philip Jennings in the critically praised FX series, The Americans. This role earned him his initial PrimeTime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2018. In more recent years, he was nominated again in the Outstanding Lead Actor category in 2021 for his work on HBO’s Perry Mason.
Currently, Danes is working alongside Gabe Rotter and showrunner Howard Gordon as an executive producer on The Beast In Me. Antonio Campos is directing the movie, with Daniel Pearle, who has written for American Horror Story, handling the script. Additionally, Jeff Ross and David Kissinger from Conaco, Jodie Foster and Caroline Baron, Conan O’Brien (a comedian and talk show host), and 20th Television Studio are all serving as executive producers on this project.
