Matthew Perry Death Investigation: All You Need To Know About Accusations Against The Five People Charged

As a lifestyle expert who has dedicated years of my career to advocating for mental health and addiction recovery, I find myself deeply saddened and outraged by the news surrounding the death of Matthew Perry. The tragic loss of such a talented individual, whose battles with addiction were well-documented, is heartbreaking. However, it’s equally disheartening to see that there are individuals who allegedly took advantage of his struggles for their own gain.

TRIGGER WARNING: This article contains references to an individual’s death and substance abuse.

It is reported by PEOPLE that five individuals, among them two doctors and an assistant to the actor, are facing charges regarding the circumstances surrounding Matthew Perry’s death. In October 2023, Perry was discovered deceased in his hot tub following the administration of three ketamine injections on the same day.

For quite some time, actor from the popular show “Friends,” Perry, openly discussed his struggles with substance abuse. It was asserted by U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada that the accused exploited Perry during his relapse period just prior to his passing.

U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada stated, “The accused exploited Mr. Perry’s struggles with addiction for their own financial gain. They were well aware that their actions were immoral.”

In connection with Perry’s passing, the Justice Department alleges that all defendants indicted are implicated in the spread of ketamine. Among these, some have admitted guilt or intend to do so, while defendants Salvador Plasencia and Jasveen Sangha have yet to agree to plead guilty.

Dr. Salvador Plasencia

Dr. Plasencia, a medical professional from Santa Monica, was apprehended on Thursday and indicted for one count of plotting to distribute ketamine, seven counts of actually distributing the substance, and two charges related to falsifying or tampering with documents linked to the federal probe.

As stated in the charges, Plasencia referred to ketamine bottles as “bots,” “cans,” and even “Dr. Pepper.” Reportedly, texts between Plasencia and Perry, the doctor, showed Perry commenting, “I’m curious about how much this person will pay,” according to officials. If found guilty on all charges, Plasencia could face up to 10 years in prison for each ketamine-related offense and up to 20 years for falsifying records.

Jasveen Sangha

According to the prosecution’s claims, it was alleged that the fatal dose of ketamine which led to Perry’s death originated from Sangha’s home in North Hollywood, where she is known as a significant figure in the drug trade. Court documents refer to her as the “Ketamine Queen.” The indictment states that Sangha distributed ketamine on October 24, 2023, and Perry passed away a few days later.

As an ardent devotee, I can’t help but share the latest news about my beloved figure, Sangha. He stands accused on five accounts: distributing ketamine, intending to distribute methamphetamine, planning to distribute more ketamine, conspiring to distribute ketamine, and maintaining a place linked to drug activities.

Kenneth Iwamasa

To get ketamine, Iwamasa, who worked as Perry’s live-in personal aide, is said to have often communicated with the other accused individuals in coded language regarding Perry’s case. On several occasions, including the day he passed away, Perry reportedly received ketamine injections from him.

Iwamasa confessed to repeatedly administering Perry with ketamine on the days prior to his demise, and even gave it to him three times on the day he passed away. He also admitted guilt for one charge of conspiring to distribute ketamine that resulted in a fatal outcome.

1. When Iwamasa returned from running errands, it was discovered that Perry had drowned, lying face-down in the water. Perry’s aide could potentially serve 15 years in prison.

Dr. Mark Chavez

According to the prosecution, Chavez, one of the second doctors charged, is planning to admit guilt for conspiring to distribute ketamine in a single count. In accordance with his plea agreement, Chavez confessed to providing Plasencia with ketamine. Previously operating a ketamine clinic under the terms of his plea deal, Chavez admitted to diverting some of the drug’s supply.

It’s alleged that Chavez tricked a wholesale supplier by falsifying a prescription, using the name of an unaware former patient, in order to get more ketamine. As a result, Chavez could face a maximum prison term of ten years after being indicted on August 30.

Erik Fleming

Fleming, who was 54 years old and a friend of Perry’s, talked with Iwamasa to organize the sale of drugs to Perry. He admitted his guilt for one charge each of conspiring to distribute ketamine and directly distributing ketamine that led to someone’s death.

As the defense claims, it was alleged that Fleming provided Iwamasa with ketamine, which he had obtained from Sangha. In turn, Fleming granted Perry access to a total of 50 vials of ketamine, with 25 of these being handed over to the actor four days prior to his demise.
