Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy; Prosecutor Blasts Defendants in New Documentary, Says They Took ‘Advantage’ of Friends Star

As a dedicated follower, I’m excitedly counting down the hours until the premiere of the new Peacock documentary, titled “Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy.” In anticipation of its release, a former U.S. attorney has shared insights about the actor’s passing. Remarkably, they assert that during the FRIENDS star’s last days, certain individuals were exploiting him.

Perry passed away at the age of 51 due to an overdose of ketamine in October 2023. 

E. Martin Estrada, the attorney working on the Perry case, stated, “A key idea behind our indictment is that these defendants, in their awareness, should have acted differently.” He explained, “They were exploiting an individual and allowing their greed to put Mr. Perry’s life at risk.

On October 28, 2023, the actor from The Fools Rush In was discovered unconscious in his hot tub. This incident led to five individuals being apprehended later on. Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s personal assistant, confessed to administering drugs into the deceased actor’s system without any professional medical help.

In the documentary, Estrada stated that “all defendants have been indicted,” and three of them admitted their guilt. Additionally, the attorney emphasized in the film that “the main lesson from this case is that those who engage in reckless behavior, such as drug trafficking or any actions leading to the death of others, must be held responsible.

In addition to the lawyers, Morgan Fairchild was interviewed for the documentary as well. Notably, she played the character of Ross’s mom on several episodes of Friends, the popular television series.

She said, “I was terribly proud of him. It’s hard in this town to admit you’ve got any problem.” 

Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy is set to premiere on February 25 on Peacock.
