Matt Reeves Still Haven’t Finished Batman 2 Script!

We’ve received new information about The Batman 2 directly from Warner Bros Pictures’ co-chairman/CEOs, Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, regarding Matt Reeves and the film’s script.

In an interview with Deadline, the pair offer that Reeves still has yet to finish the script:

We’re not deeply involved in the specifics of the Batman project. Instead, it’s primarily James and Peter Safran who oversee DC. We do coordinate with Matt Reeves to some extent, but both James and Peter recognize his talents as a writer-director and understand that he will take the lead when he has penned the perfect Batman script and is prepared to begin production.

Besides working on “The Batman” sequel, De Luca and Abdy are also involved in producing a remake of “Them,” with Michael Giacchino, the director of “Werewolf By Night,” set to be part of it as well.

Are there specific examples where big talent has been matched with library IP?

Affirmative. Drew Goddard is penning and directing “The Matrix”. Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and Jay Roach are working on a prequel to “Oceans Eleven”. Matt Reeves, collaborating with “Werewolf By Night” director Michael Giacchino, is reimagining our title “Them”. Andy Serkis is directing a remake of “Gollum”. We’re currently unable to discuss the other projects.

What is going on with The Batman 2?

The cause of the delay is currently a personal issue that Director Matt Reeves is dealing with. Since it’s his private affair, we won’t provide further details.

Release info

It’s been announced that the release date for “The Batman” has been pushed back to October 1, 2027. Robert Pattinson, who plays the title role, has confirmed that production is set to begin towards the end of this year.

Reports indicate that Robert Pattinson is being considered for the primary antagonist in the upcoming film “Dune.” If these rumors are true, he has likely wrapped up his work on Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” leaving him ample time to complete “The Batman 2.” Contrary to speculation, there is no plan to scrap this project.
