Matt Murdock Suits Up Amid Mayor Fisk’s War on Vigilantes in DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Thriller!

So far, the series “Daredevil: Born Again” hasn’t showcased much Daredevil action, focusing more on Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock in his legal career. However, this changes in episode six where Matt decides to act upon his inner demon and dons the red suit for a compelling reason.

Matt Murdock Didn’t Wear the Daredevil Costume for 5 Episodes

Since the concluding moments of the initial episode of “Daredevil: Born Again,” Matt Murdock has definitively parted ways with the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Following the tragic death of his partner and confidant, Foggy Nelson, he transgressed a personal boundary by attempting to kill the assassin Bullseye. Over the past year since these violent occurrences, Matt has refrained from donning the costume and patrolling the streets. He’s engaged in confrontations as Matthew in episode two, and resolved a crime (and successfully concluded a trial) with his heightened abilities. However, he has not adorned those signature red horns on his head.

Episode 4 Shows Matt Trying Out His Daredevil Weapons Again, But He Doesn’t Wear the Costume Yet

Towards the close of episode 4, Matt visits his hidden storage space and retrieves his batons, or billy clubs. He then proceeds to hone his skills with these weapons on the rooftop of his apartment. Interestingly, he refrains from donning any of his Daredevil masks, nor does he wear the suit in the following episode. However, as the menacing figure of Muse poses a danger to the city’s security, Matt senses that he is left with no other option. The disappearance of teenager Angela del Toro while she was searching for clues about Muse’s identity triggers this realization. Captured by Muse, Angela becomes a victim. Realizing his only recourse, Matt decides to bring back the Daredevil persona and save her from harm.

The Threat of Muse Brings Daredevil Back to New York City

Following a moment’s hesitation, he makes a spontaneous choice, exclaiming “Oh well” before slipping into his red suit once more. He locates Muse’s eerie execution chamber near the subway tunnels, and what feels like an iconic battle reminiscent of Daredevil’s first season unfolds. (Boy, have we missed those!) However, Matt is a bit out of practice, eventually ending the fight with Muse in a draw, allowing the villain to escape. Yet, his actions as Daredevil enable him to save Angela del Toro from harm. We anticipate that her experiences with her uncle as a vigilante and her rescue by Daredevil might motivate her to assume the role of the new White Tiger in the future.

Absolutely, in the first episode of “Born Again“, Wilson Fisk (played by Vincent D’Onofrio), as Mayor, warned Matt Murdock that if he resumed his role as Daredevil, there would be repercussions. So far in “Born Again“, Fisk’s campaign has been focused on opposing vigilantes. By putting on the Daredevil costume once more, Matt is essentially provoking Fisk. This implies that the long-anticipated fight between Daredevil and Kingpin is imminent. However, we’ll have to wait for the second half of “Daredevil: Born Again” season one to see how this unfolds in the context of Fisk being the Mayor of New York City.
