This Spellblade setup offers both high damage and effective crowd control, making it an excellent choice for challenging levels within Avowed. Gathering all components of this build might require some time, but once acquired, it remains robust enough to manage any obstacles the game presents.

This construction blends swiftness and sorcery, resulting in a quick-footed spellsword who wields a single-handed weapon alongside a Grimoire. Unlike warrior builds that charge headlong into combat, this one emphasizes Ice spells to immobilize opponents before annihilating them with powerful explosive damage. This approach grants it high damage per second (DPS) capabilities against both individual targets and groups.
In this setup, your go-to spells are Minor Missiles and Chill Blades for dealing burst damage and applying Freeze and Bleed effects. Once targets become frozen, either use Grimoire Snap (or repeatedly attack them before they thaw) to shatter them. This build provides us with unlimited access to Grimoire Snap and Arcane Veil. Additionally, you can opt for Blizzard or Breath of Frost to freeze multiple enemies simultaneously.
In the game, you won’t be able to block enemies when you have a Grimoire in hand. To avoid getting hit frequently, it’s recommended that you upgrade your Evasive skill instead. Don’t fret about defense though, as Arcane Veil will take care of our defensive needs effectively.

For this setup, we won’t require significant amounts of Attack Speed, Stamina, or Health. Instead, it would be more beneficial to concentrate on enhancing damage output, critical chance, and overall Essence.

You can acquire Last Light of Day, Arcanist’s Gambeson, Anextli’s Grimoire, and Drawn in Winter relatively quickly at the start, but the remaining items might take some time. In the meantime, utilize any other gear you have available, ensuring that your weapons are continually upgraded as you progress.
In this build, Anextli’s Grimoire serves as your primary spellbook, offering early acquisition of Grimoire Snap and Arcane Veil. As the game progresses, consider replacing it with Aurochs-Skin Grimoire, which comes equipped with Blast of Frost and Freezing Pillar. Ensure you invest at least one point in Grimoire Snap if you intend to switch your spellbooks.

Among the diverse group of companions in Avowed, there’s no doubt that Marius stands out as the top choice if you’re opting for a spellcaster role. This is largely due to his exceptional ability, Binding Roots, which can entangle multiple foes simultaneously. Not only does this power provide excellent enemy control, but it also increases the potency of persistent effects such as Blizzard, significantly enhancing your overall freezing efficiency.
As a gamer, I’d say that when things get tough and enemies are swarming around me, Kai makes a solid backup. But if you’re confident in your skills and ready to take on the challenge, both Yatzli and Giatta can hold their own quite well.
