DC Comics is preparing to broaden the Superman universe with a fresh new series titled “Unlimited Superman“. This thrilling comic book series, starting in May, will be helmed by writer Dan Slott and artist Rafael Albuquerque.
As a die-hard comic book fan, I’m thrilled to share that the talented Slott, renowned for his work on “Superior Spider-Man” and “Fantastic Four,” is set to make his DC ongoing series debut with this exciting new project. Meanwhile, the skilled Albuquerque, known for his illustrations in “Detective Comics” and “American Vampire,” will be gracing our comics with his artistic brilliance on this series.
The series titled “Superman Unlimited” is joining DC’s upcoming summer event, “The Summer of Superman“, along with “Action Comics” and the regular “Superman“. The official release date for the series is on May 21st, but a 10-page preview will be distributed earlier, on May 3rd, during Free Comic Book Day. This preview can be found in the DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1.
Slott passionately shares his enthusiasm for crafting stories about Superman, referring to him as the original and most remarkable superhero ever. He intends to delve deeper into not only Superman’s abilities but also his personality and human side. Slott guarantees that the series will captivate both seasoned fans and new readers alike.
Initially, the primary plotline presents a calamity – an onslaught of Kryptonite meteors slamming into Earth. The aftermath of this catastrophe will ignite a worldwide competition for the now-abundant resource, escalating perils for Superman.
The primary narrative kicks off with a predicament – a barrage of Kryptonite asteroids striking Earth. This event triggers a fierce global scramble for the newly available resource, heightening risks for Superman.
In the coming times, foes such as Intergang could arm themselves with Kryptonite weapons, posing a significant danger to Superman. To deal with these impending dangers, Superman may require fresh allies and cutting-edge technology for his protection.
In the “Superman Unlimited” series, there will be significant alterations at the Daily Planet as well. This iconic newspaper is set to merge with Galaxy Communications, resulting in it becoming a significant multimedia entity.
Lois Lane continues as our editorial leader, while our staff is distributed among international offices, assisted by a fresh tech whiz from Gorilla City, known as Tee-Nah.
According to Paul Kaminski, DC’s group editor, the upcoming series “Superman Unlimited” is similar in its impact to past series such as “Superman/Batman”. He went on to say that it combines traditional Superman-style adventures with new and exciting challenges.
Due to the wider distribution of Kryptonite, Superman is likely to encounter greater peril than ever, as common criminals now have access to Kryptonite-infused weaponry.
The first issue of “Superman Unlimited” is set to arrive at comic book stores on the 21st of May. The cover art will be created by Albuquerque and Marcelo Maiolo. A sneak peek can be viewed starting from the 3rd of May, as it’s part of Free Comic Book Day. This series is expected to present an exciting new phase in Superman’s journey, filled with unexpected twists and tough trials.
