As a long-time aficionado of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I must admit, the constant delays in the release of Blade have left me feeling like a patient waiting for their superhero vitamin injection. The anticipation for this project has been building since its initial announcement at SDCC 2019, and it’s disappointing to see it getting pushed back yet again.
Initially hailed as the most eagerly awaited production, it appears that optimism for Marvel Studios’ Blade is waning. After some major updates, Disney has postponed the release of Blade once more. Originally planned for a November 7, 2025 launch, the film is now taking a back seat to 20th Century Studios’ Predator: Badlands, as per Deadline.
This new movie is a revival of an earlier undertaking that starred Wesley Snipes prominently. For this Marvel Studios production, Mahershala Ali, a two-time Oscar laureate, takes on the lead role. You might recall that Blade was first mentioned at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. Unfortunately, due to the worldwide health crisis, the filming and planning stages were postponed.
The creation of Blade from Marvel Cinematic Universe is facing a delay because of two industry-wide writer strikes and also, two well-known figures have stepped down as directors. Initially, Bassam Tariq was slated to direct the upcoming Blade project, which was supposed to start production in fall 2022.
After he left, it was Yann Demange who stepped in as the director for the film. So far, the only good news about the movie has been regarding Mia Goth’s role.
According to reports, the actress known for her role in A Cure for Wellness is set to portray the malevolent character of Lilith in the upcoming movie, Blade.
According to reports, Kevin Feige plans to begin production on the movie Blade as soon as he finalizes a standout script for it. He aims to deliver a distinct cinematic experience for viewers with this Blade film. Simultaneously, fans of Wesley Snipes’ portrayal of the Vampire Hunter have already had a chance to watch him on the big screen again in the single Marvel Studios film that came out this year.
In the Marvel Studios’ production featuring Deadpool and Wolverine, there was a brief appearance by Blade, portrayed by Snipes, which grossed an impressive $1.3 billion at the box office.
The Blade film franchise, which began in the 90s, was among the initial R-rated superhero films. After the success of the 1998 release of Blade, New Line Cinema followed up with Blade II in 2002 and Blade: Trinity in 2004. Collectively, these movies generated a total of $418.1 million at global box offices.
Based on the latest news, Disney has unveiled plans for three upcoming Marvel films set to release on February 18, 2028, May 5, 2028, and November 10, 2028, without specific titles as of now.
