In an unexpected twist, the popular card game known as Marvel Snap has been prohibited in the United States. This decision mirrors the recent ban on TikTok and other apps associated with ByteDance, the Chinese corporation managing these platforms.
Even though Marvel Snap was created by Second Dinner, a studio based in California, it was distributed within the U.S. by Nuverse, a subsidiary of ByteDance. Since Nuverse is linked to ByteDance, the company behind the game fell under the jurisdiction of the newly implemented U.S. laws that regulate apps affiliated with foreign adversaries.
The ban caused Marvel Snap to be swiftly taken down from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Players trying to play the game found messages informing them that it was not available. Additionally, on PC platforms such as Steam, users encountered issues logging in, making the game essentially unplayable on most popular platforms.
Regrettably, the Marvel Snap game is currently inaccessible in U.S. app stores and cannot be played within the U.S. at this time. This sudden unavailability wasn’t anticipated and was not part of our original plans. However, rest assured that Marvel Snap isn’t disappearing.
We are diligently working to restore the game as quickly as possible and will keep you updated on its return. Stay tuned!

At Second Dinner, the developers were taken aback by this unexpected turn of events. They’ve promised to work diligently to rectify the issue and bring Marvel Snap back online for gamers. Yet, they haven’t given a definitive timeframe on when U.S. players can expect Marvel Snap to be available again.
This event illustrates the far-reaching effects of the U.S. administration’s stance towards apps connected to foreign entities, particularly those originating from China. Although the main concern has been centered around social media platforms like TikTok, the emergence of gaming apps such as Marvel Snap in this issue indicates the broad scope of these regulations. Both users and developers are now finding themselves in a confusing situation, seeking more definition regarding the fate of these types of apps in the American market.
