It appears that Marvel is planning further projects based on “Werewolf By Night” by Michael Giacchino, but not as another Disney+ MCU special; rather, they’re planning to release a new comic book instead.
The character “Werewolf by Night” made its first appearance approximately three years back on Disney+, and it was generally well-liked. However, similar to many Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) productions following Endgame, it can be considered a bait-and-switch approach.
If you’re eagerly anticipating more live-action, you’ll need to be patient until the next full moon and beyond. However, some exciting news about Werewolf By Night has been shared by Marvel – Michael Giacchino is composing a fresh comic book series to hold your interest in the meantime!
Although it’s not a fresh live-action installment at present, the good news is that a Marvel Comics executive has affirmed that the current comics are perfect for providing a foundation for future ideas and tales in the MCU. These stories can stimulate creativity and serve as potential raw material for upcoming film and animation projects.
It’s quite plausible that Michael Giacchino is penning the upcoming comic, with the aim being that it could pave the way for a new “Werewolf By Night” live-action series or special. Unlike the Disney+ special, this comic book will primarily center around Jack Russell instead of Elsa Bloodstone. More details can be found below, and the comic titled “Werewolf By Night: Blood Moon Rise” is set to drop on July 31st.
‘Werewolf By Night: Blood Moon Rise’ details
Giacchino also confirmed the new comic is not connected to the Disney+ MCU special.
Giacchino hinted to EW that this might resemble an untold tale from the original series, in essence. It has an intriguing twist that fans of Jack Russell and his background should find quite engaging.

The Academy Award-winning musician ventured into directing for the first time in a highly regarded production within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, he collaborates with artist David Messina (ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN) to present another chilling story about Jack Russell, but this time it takes place within the Marvel Comics universe!
WEREWOLF BY NIGHT: BLOOD MOON ASCENSION”
This special edition highlights the compelling qualities that make Werewolf By Night a beloved Marvel character, with more than half a century of comic book lore – and a hundred times as many victims to his name! Beyond Giacchino’s narrative where the tormented protagonist confronts Dracula, the one-shot will also feature a supplementary story by Jason Loo, author of the current WEREWOLF BY NIGHT: RED BAND (2024) comic series. This backup tale commemorates the character’s past and future while incorporating additional bonus content.
