Marvel Rivals’ best character is a hybrid of three Overwatch heroes

As a seasoned gamer who has been through countless battles in both Marvel Rivals and Overwatch, I must say that the Winter Soldier character in Marvel Rivals is a formidable force to be reckoned with. He’s like a Frankenstein’s monster of Overwatch characters, taking moves from Tracer, Soldier 76, Cassidy, Doomfist, and even Roadhog!

In many instances, characters from Marvel Rivals share similarities with those in Overwatch, or even blend aspects of multiple characters. For example, Star-Lord moves much like Tracer, and his self-aiming ultimate resembles Soldier 76. However, the Winter Soldier’s bionic arm draws inspiration from three distinct characters within Blizzard’s shooter.

This pistol operates similarly to Cassidy’s, dealing massive damage through headshots. It holds merely three rounds, but employing any of his unique abilities reloads it. Just like Cassidy, the Soldier can roll in combat, which serves a similar purpose within Overwatch. Integrating this feature with the Soldier’s other talents ensures a continuous stream of damage.

The ability of Winter Soldier’s Trooper’s Fist resembles Doomfist’s uppercut in terms of sheer power; Overwatch found this move so disruptive that they eliminated it from his arsenal altogether. In contrast, Marvel Rivals doesn’t share these restrictions and is currently permitting several overpowered elements within its gameplay style.

Still, the launch potential now is as crazy as it was during Doomfist’s nightmarish heyday. As with Doomfist, the uppercut is also handy to use as a repositioning tool. Soldier’s Ultimate, Kraken Impact, is essentially a reusable form of Doomfist’s Meteor Strike that marks the targets on lowest health. If you kill a target during this mark, you get another Impact. It’s not hard for the assassin to wipe an entire team with this.

Completing the trifecta is a Roadhog-style pull known as Bionic Hook. It can reel in multiple targets if Bucky lines them up properly. Again, this is a move that has been nerfed and readjusted several times during Overwatch’s long history.

The character known as Winter Soldier has been adjusted with some of his abilities being weakened in Overwatch, while one ability has been completely eliminated. This isn’t all of the adjustments, though. In addition to these changes, he also receives a sluggish effect from Tainted Voltage, an electrical sphere.

It’s appropriate that a character, who was remade by Hydra for the role of an unstoppable weapon, demonstrates extraordinary abilities in Marvel Rivals, with a skilled Winter Soldier often securing the victory almost entirely on his own.
