As a lifelong comic book enthusiast and avid gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I must say that the current direction of Marvel Studios Universe (MCU) and Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) is nothing short of exhilarating! The ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Kraven the Hunter’ movies are the epitome of what us comic book fans have been yearning for – gritty, raw, and unapologetically adult-oriented content that stays true to the source material.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my excitement over the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ This movie has been making waves and breaking several box office records! The ‘Deadpool’ franchise is legendary for being one of the highest-grossing R-rated series in film history, so it was only fitting that Disney rated this one R to maintain the essence of these iconic characters.
It appears that, much like the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) introducing more mature storylines with shows such as ‘Echo’ and ‘Marvel Zombies,’ the Superhero Universe (SSU) seems to be moving in a similar direction.
Absolutely! Sony’s Spider-Man universe continues to thrive, and we can’t wait for ‘Kraven the Hunter.’ The latest sneak peek promises a grisly and violent film, indicating that it will indeed live up to its billing with intense action sequences.
Back when Sony was building up hype for ‘Venom’ and its sequel ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’, there were hints that these films might be rated R due to their intense violence. However, to my surprise, they ended up being rated PG-13 instead, which meant a considerable reduction in the level of on-screen violence compared to what was initially suggested.
According to actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is featured in ‘Kraven the Hunter’, the film has received an official R rating. Johnson previewed what viewers can anticipate, calling it “gritty and violent”. He shared that reading ‘Kraven’s Last Hunt’ to prepare left him amazed by its intensity. Johnson further mentioned that a significant number of Marvel fans have now reached the age where they can enjoy R-rated material.
Instead of being a regular comic book reader, there’s one titled “Kraven’s Last Hunt” that has caught my attention… Reading it leaves you thinking, “What on earth did I just read?” That’s the kind of character I’m portraying. However, as many who grew up with Marvel comics are now of an age to appreciate an R-rated film, they might find this character intriguing too.
In the newly unveiled teaser for ‘Kraven the Hunter’, we see the titular character employing some remarkable tactics to overcome his adversaries. The trailer depicts Kraven impaling foes with tiger fangs, ripping faces with bear traps, and slicing throats with horns from various animals. We can’t wait for the movie!
