Marvel Fans Desert Disney+: Daredevil Ratings Plummet in Embarrassing Slide

It seems that the audience engagement for the Daredevil: Born Again series on Disney+ has been disappointingly poor, even falling below expectations – a fact that’s rather embarrassing. Regrettably, the show failed to chart yet again in the Nielsen ratings.

This time, what’s especially concerning is that not one, but two episodes fell off the Nielsen charts during a week with relatively low viewership.

Disney+ routinely enables Nielsen tracking in user accounts, following the standard practice within the industry to monitor viewership statistics. Additionally, Disney holds shares in Samba TV, a platform that collects household viewing data. However, Samba TV has not released any figures for “Daredevil: Born Again” and hasn’t provided Marvel or Star Wars data on Disney+ for an extended period (the same applies to Star Wars).

What is going on with the ratings?

In the week spanning March 24th to 30th, 2025, episodes 5 (linked to Ms. Marvel) and 6 (Muse) of Daredevil: Born Again premiered on Disney+. However, neither episode managed to appear in Nielsen’s charts for that particular week.

10th place on the chart finds Hulu’s “Good American Family” clocking in at 344 million minutes of viewing time. Consequently, the two episodes of “Daredevil: Born Again” didn’t manage to garner an average of over 172 million minutes per episode. This dismal performance serves as more evidence that Marvel enthusiasts have apparently moved on from Disney+.

It seems that none of the “Daredevil: Born Again” episodes have appeared in the Nielsen ratings, even the double premiere. If this continues, it would be unprecedented for a Marvel series to not be ranked by Nielsen.

Nielsen tracks all episodes airing during a particular weekly period, ensuring that avid Marvel viewers haven’t been tardy in catching up on their binge-watching (as of now).

Daredevil: Born Again Nielsen viewership ratings:

  • Episode 1 / 2: under 465
  • Episode 3: under 464
  • Episode 4: under 373
  • Episode 5/6: under 344

Marvel fans bail on Disney+

It appears that the viewership data suggests a shift in preference among Marvel fans, as Madame Web was viewed more on Netflix compared to Deadpool and Wolverine on Disney+.

It seems that the success of Disney+ primarily relies on “Bluey,” a show not originally produced by Disney. Occasionally, Disney-produced films like the upcoming “Moana 2” also perform exceptionally well.

How the MCU has fallen

MCU fails to live up to expectations on Disney+

It’s astonishing to reflect upon the decline of Marvel after “Avengers: Endgame.” Contrary to Kevin Feige and Marvel’s assurance of top-tier quality for the MCU series on Disney+, the reality has been quite different.

The comic book series “Daredevil: Born Again” doesn’t deviate from this observation. Its minimal budget is clearly noticeable, alongside weak writing and a scattering of personal agendas, which collectively lead many readers to disengage.

Next from Feige? Ironheart featuring gang members turned activists, and Wonder Man.

MCU movies fail to deliver

On the big screen too, much like with the MCU, there have been similar missteps. Lately, Feige’s mistakes encompass films like “Captain America: A New World Order” and “The Marvel Experience.

It’s currently projected that “Thunderbolts” will rank second lowest in opening weekend box office earnings for the MCU, surpassing only “The Marvels.

As a die-hard cinema lover, I can’t help but express my anticipation for the upcoming “Fantastic Four” movie, a crucial addition to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU) as we approach “Avengers: Doomsday.” The return of Robert Downey Jr. certainly adds fuel to the excitement! However, the full trailer has sparked quite a buzz, and not all of it is positive. It appears that this film continues Kevin Feige’s trend of infusing progressive narratives and agendas into Marvel productions. I must admit, I’m curious about how this approach will play out in practice.
