Marvel Characters Cut From ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Revealed

I was deeply involved in the making of “Captain America: Brave New World,” and I can tell you that the film underwent significant changes during reshoots, with many aspects differing from the original ideas. In the early stages of development and later reshoots, several Marvel Comics characters were initially excluded, some even before filming started. Regrettably, other characters filmed scenes that ultimately didn’t make it to the final cut. Here are four notable Marvel Comics heroes who were unfortunately left out of the final version of “Captain America: Brave New World.

Elijah Richardson/Eli Bradley as Patriot

Elijah Richardson, who played Eli Bradley in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, is a descendant of the “secret” Captain America from Marvel Comics. Fans anticipated that he would appear in “Brave New World”, hinting at a possible “Young Avengers” project. However, despite the creators considering his inclusion, they ultimately removed him from the script due to lack of significant roles in a busy film. Although we understand their reasoning, we hope Eli Bradley will make an appearance soon, ideally in the upcoming “Young Avengers” movie or series.

Rosa Salazar as Diamondback

In comic book lore, Rachel Leighton, known by her alias Diamondback, is a notable figure in the Serpent Society, sometimes friend and sometimes foe to Captain America. A gymnast with the skill to hurl diamond-tipped projectiles, Diamondback was initially a key character in the story “Brave New World”, but her role was eventually reduced. Actress Rosa Salazar, known for her work on “Brand New Cherry Flavor”, filmed several scenes for the film, which presumably included an opening fight scene with Sam Wilson. However, Marvel decided to rework the Serpent Society for the movie and removed all of Salazar’s scenes from the final cut. This decision came despite Diamondback-themed Happy Meal toys being distributed last summer. Given her past romantic connection to Steve Rogers, it’s hoped that Diamondback will make an appearance at some point in future productions.

Seth Rollins as Unknown Serpent Society Member

In the television adaptation of “Brave New World,” one actor who was initially cast as a member of the Serpent Society, but ultimately didn’t make it into the final cut, is WWE star Seth Rollins. It’s unknown which character he was set to portray, with rumors suggesting it could have been Copperhead, Cobra, or Constrictor. Despite filming his scenes, Rollins was left out when the filmmakers reworked the Serpent Society for the reshot version of the series. In the end, the on-screen depiction of the Serpent Society in “Brave New World” appeared less snake-themed and more like a simple biker gang nickname. There’s hope that future updates to the Serpent Society could provide Rollins another opportunity to play a member.

Logan Kim/Amadeus Cho as the Totally Awesome Hulk

Crediting this piece of news to a supposed cast member or character, there have been whispers about Logan Kim potentially playing Amadeus Cho in “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” In the comics, Amadeus Cho is a brilliant scientist who later transforms into another gamma-infused green hero known as the Totally Awesome Hulk. It’s uncertain how Amadeus Cho would have been integrated into the movie, but given that “Brave New World” serves as a sequel to “The Incredible Hulk,” it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel considered using him at some point. We know Dr. Helen Choi, Amadeus Cho’s mother, exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as she appeared in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” A version of Amadeus Cho can also be found in “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” but that series is set in a different universe. Here’s hoping we see Amadeus Cho in the main MCU timeline someday.
