Marvel Celebrates 85th Anniversary with Promo Video Teasing Thunderbolts, Daredevil, and Red Hulk

As a lifestyle expert with a deep-rooted passion for pop culture and a lifelong Marvel enthusiast, I must say that Marvel’s 85th Anniversary promo video was nothing short of electrifying! The journey through Marvel’s rich history, from Stan Lee’s classic comic books to the MCU’s current reign, left me feeling nostalgic and exhilarated simultaneously.

Marvel Studios is marking its 85th anniversary with a special two-minute, forty-one-second video, starting with a tribute to Marvel legend Stan Lee. This video includes snippets of interviews with stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), such as Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill). Moreover, it offers glimpses of upcoming projects like Thunderbolts, Daredevil: Born Again, and Captain America: Brave New World’s Red Hulk.

This video offers fans a sentimental trip down memory lane, tracing Marvel’s 85-year timeline from Stan Lee’s iconic comics, onto the initiation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man, and encompassing recent blockbusters like Deadpool & Wolverine, along with numerous other films and series available on Disney+.

While the video was a nostalgic treat (something Marvel has been delivering a lot recently), the new glimpses of upcoming projects have generated significant buzz among fans. The promo included a brief clip from Thunderbolts, where elevator doors open to reveal the band of misfits, Marvel’s equivalent to DC’s Suicide Squad. The team includes Red Guardian, played by David Harbour; Ghost, portrayed by Hannah John-Kamen; Sebastian Stan’s fan-favorite Bucky Barnes; Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova from Black Widow; and U.S. Agent, played by Wyatt Russell.

1. There’s a lot of excitement building around Charlie Cox and his upcoming Marvel series on Disney+, Daredevil: Born Again. A promotional video for the 85th anniversary even offered a new glimpse of Cox’s main character, who carries over from the Netflix series and officially entered the MCU in Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

The promo also revealed a new glimpse of Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk from Anthony Mackie’s first cinematic solo venture in the MCU, Captain America: Brave New World. The clip shows Ford hulking out as he rises from the ground behind the presidential podium in front of the White House.

At the beginning of the video, the late Stan Lee said something similar to, “Picking a favorite character I created is a bit like a parent choosing their preferred child – I care for them all equally.”

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel, looked back to the 60s when the legendary team of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko were brainstorming in the Marvel bullpen. They were responsible for bringing characters like Spider-Man, The Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four to life. “The House of Ideas,” he remarked, “lives up to its name.”

Prior to showcasing Ford sporting a Hulk-like appearance, the video also contained another statement from Lee: “I’ve always aimed to create stories with characters who possess relatable human qualities,” said the Marvel icon. “And of course, I can’t fail to mention excelsior,” he concluded.

Marvel Comics originated in New York City back in 1939, with Stan Lee being one of its pioneers. Over the years, Marvel transformed into a colossal cinematic empire, which kicked off with Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr. in 2008. Today, Marvel Studios is an influential brand boasting a high rate of success, churning out numerous blockbuster films that rank among the top earners of all time. Upcoming from Marvel Studios are projects like a new Fantastic Four, Spider-Man 4, Blade, and two Avengers movies—The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. As Marvel Studios confidently states, “we’re just getting started.”
