Marvel Cancels Its Only TV Show with Perfect 100% RT Score

As a die-hard Marvel fan who has grown up with the MCU, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness upon hearing the news that “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” is coming to an end. This show has been a breath of fresh air in the Marvel universe, offering a unique take on superhero adventures while maintaining the high-quality storytelling we’ve come to expect from Marvel Studios.

Marvel Studios, usually not known for outright canceling shows, but more inclined towards the ‘limited series’ label, seems to have made a surprising decision. A highly-regarded series that has garnered praise for its captivating narratives and critical success, as hinted by storyboard artist Gabi Rode’s remarks, appears to be wrapping up early.

Regardless of ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’ having a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes among critics, it won’t be returning for a third season.

The news about the show’s end was first shared on Twitter by user @owlphibia and later supported by Rode, who expressed disappointment that this outcome had been known among Disney staff for quite some time. Rode disclosed that the production area has been empty for over a year, suggesting that the decision to end the show was made long ago but is just now becoming public knowledge.

It’s unfortunate that many of us at Disney were aware of the situation for such an extended period yet couldn’t openly discuss it. The MoonGirl production sector remained eerily deserted for more than a year, which was quite disheartening.

In a city as vibrant as New York, the cherished animated show unfolds the escapades of 13-year-old Lunella Lafayette. Lunella, bearing a striking resemblance to the teenage Shuri from ‘Black Panther,’ forms an alliance with Devil Dinosaur, who appeared through a mystifying gateway.

In unison, they undertake diverse assignments aimed at overpowering quirky antagonists. Their exploits serve as a link in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, weaving a thread leading us back to the esteemed Avengers.

The series showcases actors like Diamond White as Lunella and Fred Tatasciore as her dinosaur companion, along with notable stars such as Alison Brie, Jennifer Hudson, Maya Hawke, Daveed Diggs, and Wesley Snipes. Additionally, Laurence Fishburne reprises his role as Ben Foster, connecting the animated stories to the live-action universe of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp,’ voiced by himself.

Viewers can find comfort in the fact that the final 10 episodes, set to premiere in early 2025, have been crafted to provide a satisfying conclusion, ensuring no loose ends remain in the storyline.
