I’m really surprised and honestly, a little impressed, that Marvel is still pushing forward with Season 2 of Wonder Man. From what I’ve seen, it seems to have gotten the lowest viewership of any of their Disney+ shows so far, but they’re clearly committed to the project, which is interesting!
Marvel announced on social media and its website that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley will reprise their roles as Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery, respectively.
So, the story of Simon Williams and Trevor isn’t finished, though it’s still unclear how many viewers the first season had compared to other Marvel series on Disney+.

Marvel Confirms Wonder Man Season 2
I’m so excited to hear that Andrew Guest is returning as the creative force behind the scenes – he’ll be showrunning and executive producing again! And even better, Destin Daniel Cretton is back to direct, also serving as an executive producer. It’s fantastic to have both of them leading the charge!
It’s also notable when this news arrived. The announcement of Season 2 came right before the Season 2 premiere of Daredevil: Born Again on Wednesday, giving Marvel Television another opportunity to generate buzz as they continue releasing content on Disney+.
Marvel also revealed that Cretton will be directing the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.

Wonder Man Gets Renewed Despite Weak Audience Buzz
The interesting part is that Wonder Man did not seem to generate much of a splash with fans.
Although Marvel is promoting the show’s positive reviews (91% on Rotten Tomatoes) and celebrating a successful first season, the more important factors are how viewers reacted and how many people actually watched.
Before its release, Wonder Man seemed like a relatively low-profile Disney+ Marvel series, generating less buzz than other shows like Loki, WandaVision, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, or Secret Invasion.
The renewal for Season 2 is particularly noteworthy. This news comes after Marvel made the first episode available to watch for free on both YouTube and Hulu.
Marvel likely thinks the series will be a valuable addition to Disney+ over time, even if it didn’t become a huge hit immediately. They might also believe Wonder Man can still attract a larger audience, particularly with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the star and Ben Kingsley reprising his popular role as Trevor Slattery.
What Wonder Man Is About
Season 1 followed aspiring actor Simon as he tried to launch his Hollywood career.
During his journey, he befriended another actor named Trevor Slattery, and the two became close despite their differences. The plot also revolved around director Von Kovak’s remake of “Wonder Man,” a beloved superhero movie from the 1980s that held a special place in Simon’s childhood.
This approach positioned the show as being more centered on Hollywood glamour than other Marvel series on Disney+, potentially allowing it to be uniquely creative, though it might not have appealed to everyone.
