As a devoted Marvel fan who has witnessed the multiverse unfold through the magical lens of “What If…?”, I am beyond excited to see Moon Knight join the fray in Season 3! Oscar Isaac, with his enchanting performance as Marc Spector and Steven Grant, will undoubtedly bring a fresh dynamic to the table. The prospect of Moon Knight teaming up with Captain America and Monica Rambeau against gamma monsters has my heart racing!
In the upcoming Season 3 of Marvel’s “What If…?” series, the character of Moon Knight, previously played by Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector and Steven Grant, will continue his role as the Fist of Khonshu, as confirmed by Brad Winderbaum from Marvel Animation during a D23 panel, according to Comicbook.com.
While the exact number of episodes starring Moon Knight hasn’t been revealed yet, it’s confirmed that he will join forces with Captain America (Sam Wilson) and Monica Rambeau to battle gamma monsters in at least one episode.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share some exciting updates from the Marvel Cinematic Universe! It appears that the dynamic duo, Simu Liu and Dominique Thorne, are set to reprise their roles as Shang-Chi and Ironheart, respectively, in the upcoming season. This could indicate another fantastic collaboration between these talented actors. Stay tuned for more updates!
Regarding Oscar Isaac’s TV show, while the finale suggested a possibility for more episodes, an official decision about a second season hasn’t been made yet. Prior to this role, Isaac portrayed Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse and will voice Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
According to reports, Karan Soni (as Dopinder) stated that although there were difficulties due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes which impacted Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, Isaac has confirmed that production on the film is now moving forward.
At the close of What If…? Season 2 last year, viewers got a sneak peek of Season 3, featuring Bucky Barnes and Red Guardian in a high-speed car chase to evade authorities. Unlike the first season, subsequent episodes were released weekly, unveiling different character interpretations from the Marvel Cinematic Universe across various universes.
According to Comic Book Resources, Director Bryan Andrews hinted earlier this year that Season 3 might be released later in the year. When inquired about the show’s schedule, he acknowledged that another team controls those decisions. He explained, “There’s a different group of people strategizing when things will be released, and they’re moving pieces around on the board. At this moment, I’m not sure where we fit into their plans.”
Significantly, season 3 won’t have A.C. Bradley serving as the main writer. Instead, Bradley has stated that the Bucky/Red Guardian episode marked her final involvement in the show.
Within the Marvel Studios Animation lineup are several exciting shows, including X-Men ’97, a follow-up to the Emmy-nominated X-Men: The Animated Series. At D23, we also got a peek at other upcoming projects such as Eyes of Wakanda, Spider-Man (a series based on our friendly neighborhood hero), and Marvel Zombies, a spinoff from What If…?
In the upcoming series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Hudson Thames – known for his role as Spider-Man in a zombie episode – will also appear. Meanwhile, Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan character from Marvel Zombies has been confirmed, and she likens her character to Frodo Baggins from Lord of the Rings.
Season 1 and 2 of What If…? are streaming on Disney+.
