Marlon Wayans recently discussed a quick disagreement he had with 50 Cent on social media, and revealed what his brothers told him about how to deal with it. The actor and comedian, age 53, commented on 50 Cent’s role in the new Netflix documentary about Sean “Diddy” Combs, which led to a public exchange between them.
In an interview with Complex, Damon Wayans discussed the longstanding feud between 50 Cent and Puff Daddy, stating it’s a deeply personal issue, ultimately between them and God. He also cautioned that 50 Cent repeatedly attacking Puff Daddy while he’s facing difficulties could have negative consequences, as every action has karmic repercussions.
The online disagreement sparked a reaction from 50 Cent on Instagram, intensifying the public back-and-forth. However, Marlon Wayans told KTLA that the dispute was harmful to the Black community. He explained that he hadn’t seen the documentary in question, but when asked for his thoughts, he simply shared his opinion, believing that public arguments between Black men are unproductive.
You know, Damon Wayans cleared things up about his past issues with someone else – it wasn’t a big deal at all. He described it like two kids playfully trading insults, just joking around. He actually thinks we’ve lost that ability to playfully tease each other and laugh at our differences, and he believes we need more of that lightheartedness in the world. It was all in good fun, really.
Marlon Wayans shared that his brothers warned him to steer clear of feuds with tough personalities like 50 Cent. As Wayans recalled, his brother Damon advised him, “Why go after the biggest, most dangerous guy? He’s a force to be reckoned with!” Damon suggested focusing on easier rivals, like Soulja Boy or Kevin Hart, and definitely avoiding someone who had already survived being shot nine times.
50 Cent was seriously wounded in a shooting back in 2000 and has been involved in several highly publicized disagreements with other artists, notably Diddy, Rick Ross, and Ja Rule.
Damon Wayans’ remarks remind us to keep arguments in proportion and avoid turning them into public online fights. They also demonstrate that even famous people turn to their families for guidance when dealing with disagreements.
